> Go to CEX
> Get a 2nd hand copy of Banjo-Kazooie to replace my lost copy
> Box still had the manual
> Read it while on the bus
> Notice something on the back pages
> Immaculate handwriting everywhere
> Previous owners had written down all the trivia relating to Gruntilda

Did anyone else get a nice little extra when buying second hand?

Come to think of it the trivia thing was a clever way to hide yet another collectible in grunty's lair. I like it when platformers do that, they give you a real motivation to collect items, adds so much more to the flavor

since when did CEX start selling retro stuff ? in Ireland the oldest stuff is 6th gen.

not /vr/ (yet) but CEX are really dumb at pricing stuff, I get some ps2 games for super cheap there

also a madcatz tournament edition for 50 euros (they go for atleast 150)

I picked up Galerians, the first 3 Project Zero, LOK Blood Omen and Koudelka at CEX. Pretty good, except blood omen crashes fatally at Malek's castle

I believe they've always had a retro-only shop in London?
Then again, my source is a game magazine from about 2002 I read a while back, so I may be out of date.

It's those little things that makes me love collecting so much in the first place. There's something really cool about looking through the manual and getting a piece of someone's experience 20+ years ago.

The problem with that is that the trivia was randomly generated upon file creation. The answers were different each time.

Transferred them up to gen VI

Surely it says "halfway through game"?

This sorta counts. Just today I bought, among other games, Star Trek 25th Anniversary on Game Boy. On the back is a sticker with a few Game Genie codes on it. It looks official, complete with copyright info, so I guess it was a promo from Galoob to try and get you to buy a game genie so you could use these freebie codes. I can't seem to find any info about this sticker, but I'm keeping it on the cartridge because it's cool and it adds additional flavor to its history.

OP here.

The cex I went to is in Birmingham. They where selling retro well into the start of 7th gen, but soon pushed it out to make room for the 8 million copies of Fifa that where coming in. The prices of retro game where fair.

My day 1 ps2 bought the farm, went to FLGS and got a second hand one.
Took it home, it was dead.
Went back.
"Hey this one doesn't work."
"OK try this one."
Take it home.
Works great, still got it.
Had Age of Empires 2 in the drive.
I try it but don't really get it.
Housemate comes in.
It is his birthday.
"OMG IS THAT AGE OF EMPIRES 2 THAT IS MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE GAME!"
"Happy Birthday dude."

He literally spent like 3 days in his room grinning like an idiot playing the game from start to finish. Couldn't have planned it better.

I bought Myst for Saturn and it had someone's notes in the manual trying to figure shit out.

They didn't get very far.
