6 for its complete lack of coherent art direction which makes it strangely charming.

what do you mean by no art direction?
like how you go from snow mountains to cannibal islands?

Pretty much every component of the game looks different to everything else and from what I've heard the reason for this is because MM6 started as a different project that got bought by New World Computing.

- intro movie looks nothing like anything else in the game, not even the other cinematics
- polygon landscape with sprite objects
- monsters and NPCs are 3D render models turned into sprites
- real persons for the portraits
- photoshopped public domain images and render models for NPC portraits
- items are rendered, drawn, photoshopped or a mix of all of those
- sudden live action during a certain scene later on
- bizarre jumps between stuff like how the oracle is some giant black screen in a futuristic facility in the 3D game world but when you click on it the static image shows something that can't decide whether it wants to be a temple or a living room with the oracle being a gold mask above an open fire

and much more

also don't forget that the inside of the NPC house are cinematics

yeah I kind of enjoy this for some reason
I mean, sometimes you have to have a weird as fuck set-up if you want to do everything on a limited hardware.
I'm not even sure that in 2015 you'd be able to do a game on that exact scale and with that many monsters at once if they all were full 3D

Now I want to see an RPG in the Serious Engine.

why

mm6 was my bread and butter as a kid. I went into it not knowing anything of the series. 8 was also fun, but ending was kind of 'meh' I have yet to finish 7, even though I've beaten 6 on several different play styles.

honestly 7 is the best of both worlds
it's like MM6 except more polished, not more giant dungeons with thousands of the same enemy
the design is slightly better and more original

There is slightly less content though ,but it's comparable

Basically it's a casualized version of 6, but not to the point of 8

because it's a fantasy game where you end up going on spaceships and kings give you keycards and where you have shit like a swamp town where ghouls and ninjas are in a peaceful co-habitat

>because it's a fantasy game where you end up going on spaceships and kings give you keycards
Sounds on par with most M&M games then.

Except dungeons in MM7 are fucking shit in comparison.

i don't think they are shit, just more casual
