Tell me more about this oh mighty shill.

Is this better than RetroArch?
Does it use the same emulators as retro arch?

if so I may use it.
Just tell me why I should use it.

because retroarch is shit

not op btw

this is the best emulation experience i've had since i first found emulation in the late 90s early 2000s. makes shit so much easier.

Not a very good reason.
Can you tell me why it's better and why I should use it? None of this seems convincing.

i just don't like the shit interface for retroarch

openemu downloads the covers and gives everything a simple nice interface of boxes and then launches full screen and configures my controllers for me. i'm not worried if you don't use it, but it'd make your life easier than retroarch, which again, is fucking shit.

Hate all you want, non-crapple-havers, but openemu is downright cathartic after all the jank emulator ports we've had to deal with. A slick UI that makes sense and handles fiddly bullshit in the background so you can Play the Goddamned Game instead of editing *.cfg files all day.

If anyone here is into software that streamlines this kind of dork shit, the boxer frontend also does a pretty good job of unspergifying dosbox

There's a libretro frontend that aims to replicate OpenEmu on Windows and Linux

That's a good idea.

Next step is all the manuals and supplementary materials combined with VR support for a 90's customization bedroom with gaming magazines and posters to browse through, video cassettes, a TV with "Gamemaster", and a stereo to drown out the virtual screams of our divorcing parents.

>> No.2873907

Why should I use this when I already have separate emulators for all of my systems already in organized folders

>> No.2873909

>>2873903

Posters could be unlockable. We could start with a limited budget and make money from completing videogames, having to decide whether to buy games, consoles, strategy guides, magazines, PC upgrades, etc. This would be a good incentive to get us to stick one game rather than being overwhelmed by choice.

It'll be emulation combined with a bit of animal crossing and momorpherging. So parents would leave new games on Christmas day and so on. It could be real-time and reset every 10 years, so we get to await new game releases and watch archived news footage as the gulf war progresses.

We could log into a 90s internet, with simple tools to recreate the old geocities websites. BBSs and everything would have strict rules similar to roleplaying, everyone has to pretend they are in the past.

>> No.2873913

If you prefer to manage multiple emulators and ROM collections yourself, you don't want to use this.

If you prefer an emulation core and sorted library model of management, and run a Mac, Openemu is the program you want.

I'm just saying, you have to be pretty incompetent to end up with that many typos on one screen and then actually release the image to promote your thing.

And looking at the site, it still has a really inconsistent and idiotic naming scheme for the systems.

>> No.2873980

>>2873940
ok, super reaching there, duder

Devs put together an attractive emulator frontend that supports dozens of consoles, organizes your romz, auto-configures your controllers, video filters, save states, rewind, box art, etc etc etc.

And here you are on 4chan calling them incompetent based on a screenshot of some misspellings in a pre-release version of the software and your own console-naming preferences? They were even so nice as to put the whole project on github so you can compile your own build with your own naming convention if you hate theirs so much. Or are you too incompetent to figure how to do that?

The only thing even remotely difficult about this project is the graphic design and they didn't even do a great job at that.

I am an amateur as fuck programmer and even I could make shit functionally identical to this without breaking a sweat.

Either way I can not understand how they could possibly look at that image and not notice all the shit wrong with it unless they really just did not give a shit.
