We get this thread all the time. It was to make him stand out more. If his hair was brown/dirty blonde like intended, he would've blended in to the grass/dirt tiles too much.

Somebody will inevitably post the magazine scans that show figurines which feature him with pink hair, but this doesn't prove that his hair was pink for any other reason than to make him more prominent on screen. These figurines were just based on the sprites and were produced well after the sprites were in use.

I personally don't think it's a good look for link. Pink and green? Come on.

A good CRT can have a really crisp image, you probably just had the misfortune of playing on one of the shitty ones. While I generally prefer LCDs for most things nowadays, I still think retro vidya looks better on a decent CRT since that's what they designed it for.

Anyway, to keep things on topic, I don't remember ever having trouble seeing Link against ALttP's green backgrounds. His hair may have helped, but his hat and tunic are a different shade of green than the game's grass.

I think it's really only LttP Link that he was meant to have pink hair... probably some executive meddling stopped the hair color because it wouldn't be taken well by western audiences.

He initially had a brownish-blonde hair.

I doubt they really gave a shit back then.

That is correct. Now if you were not retarded, you would have realized by now, based on all the examples, that Link's hair color is not dependent upon any color used for to create Link's sprites. Nor will changing Link's hair to another color break the game, as demonstrated by existing hacks. One of which being a simple hair color hack, others of which include the modified sprites used in Nintendo's own BS Zelda AST and various BS Zelda AST hacks. So yes, you are in fact a retard. And no amount of 'sarcasm' will ever change that.

Also if anyone is interested this is an amazing Manga adaption of A Link To The Past
by the great Shotaro Ishinomori, author and creator of Cyborg 009.
Originally running in Nintendo Power in the 90's.
Still have my Copy I bought at Walmart when it was released as a stand alone and compiled into its own book. If anyone is interested,
give it a read, the artwork is amazing and fallows the story closely I still pick it up and dust it off every now and then and read it.

No problem, It was interesting how they gave link a voice and it actually fit surprisingly well.
It follows it close enough with of course some minor additions through the freedom of the artist
adding in a few things that were not in the game.
But it's told so well that you could see it being in the actual game itself with the cool little side story. hell you could almost use it as a very minor walk-through/almost.
I remember as a kid my cousin telling me he found a hidden tunic upgrade that I think he called the dragon tunic.
He said it was a distinct red and black, Not like the red tunic you get this as a step above that.
I wish I could remember how he supposedly got it.
I do remember it having to do with Links brother
who you supposedly get it from, who is located inside the tint under the bridge.
He seemed completely sincere about it and was actually pissed because his his little cousins deleted his save file with it.
Its funny how things like this in the 90's would come about all the crazy tumors like getting Luigi in Super Mario 64, along with the gaming magazines of the time spreading rumors as well.
It reminded me of a early non horror creepy-pasta if that makes any sense.
I do remember one other thing that he said was when you run into Links brother in the tint he will be wearing the tunic and say something then swing his sword and a spiral of flames that look like a dragon would appear transferring the
tunic to Link.

Fun fact, in Tri Force Heroes (which is technically a sequel to Link Between Worlds) features in it a character who wears an outfit similar to LttP link's outfit and who has pink hair. I think they make a joke about him not being fashionable enough to be a hero (the game's plot and setting have a backbone in fashion).
