Are the PS1 Ace Combat games worth getting into? I've played the PS2 and PSP games and I'm craving more of them. Have they aged well?

>> No.2851547

Man AC7 is going to be a disappointment.

Play Ace Combat 3 OP. Playing with a Negcon controller is a bliss.

>> No.2851619

AC2 is a lot like AC4. AC3 is deep. Air Combat is harder and more arcadey.

AC2 for the PS1 has an absolutely brilliant soundtrack, as does AC3. AC2 has a lot in common with AC4.

Project Nemo will be be finished soon and AC3's superior JP version translated.

>Are the PS1 Ace Combat games worth getting into?

Is this a real question? Of course they are worth to get into.

>> No.2851695

AC1: Very primitive. Think of it as the Tekken 1 of the franchise. If you're a completionist, then by all means, go ahead. Despite this, it has some unique features like recruitable wingmen who can die and be lost to the player. Purchased aircraft can also be lost if destroyed in a mission.

AC2: The Tekken 2 of the franchise. Improved graphics and gameplay mechanics, but still primitive (planes still can't barrel roll or yaw, no way to look around your plane).

AC3: The best of the bunch. The Japanese version featured branching missions and a rich storyline and cast of characters which sadly was gutted completely for the US/EU versions. Despite this, the US/EU versions are still worth playing for the improved graphics/flight mechanics over the previous games. Fantastic music.

Ace Combat 3 is the shit. Even the stripped down US/EU version is great.

AC2 is good, but if you have a 3DS, get AHL because it's a hugely improved remake of that.

It's a fun game. Flanker GOAT jet. I sunk a lot of dollarydoos into that cabinet. Fuck those refueling sequences though.

Yes.

1 is a little rough, but still enjoyable.
2 is light on story, but gameplay wise basically refined.
3 JP has a great story, gameplay is merely OK but grab yourself the translated script and sit down because it's a great ride.

>(planes still can't barrel roll or yaw,
Flat-out fallacy. You just need to switch to expert controls, which anyone who plays these games should know.

AC3 is to this day my favorite entry in the series in terms of everything, it had everything you'd ever need from AC and a mindblowing soundtrack.

If you don't count Infinity, maybe.

Air Combat is really cool. On the highest difficulty you are dead after getting hit by one missle, which feels realistic. Also, the music is the best in the series.
