I got DOOM on the Xbox 360 today and it was waY BETTER THAN I THOUGHT

It is the best console port, but there's really no reason for it not to be. No Rest for the Living was also very good.

Even Doom Classic Complete is good.

Modern consoles have more than enough processing power, and controllers have enough buttons for all actions, as well as two sticks for moving and looking.

It's really not possible to make an unplayable port of games like Doom, Wolf3D or Duke for a modern console.

Now, this and that can be said about certain ports, but it's not like in the old days, with SNES Doom where the controls and graphics were shit, and lots of levels were missing, but the music was awesome, or 32X, where the controls were quite good with a 6 button controller, the audio and graphics were crystal clear, but the music was dogshit and lots of levels were missing, the only really good port until the PSX one being on the Jaguar (a kind of poor console), which had great graphics and pretty much most of the levels, but absolutely no music at all.

These days, we can have our cake and eat it when it comes to Doom ports.

I'm assuming steam versions let you use sourceports and run pwads, so i'd go with that. You'll get way more mileage out of Doom on PC than you will on any console.

Almost all modern phones can play DOOM

Even the N-Gage has a really good port, the display can be rotated and the control's change to fit
