Yes, but most modern consoles are overloaded with crap games and shovelware with good games few and far between. This is /vr/ ya know.

Note that OP isn't specifically claiming the SNES library is better than any other /vr/ library, just that the SNES library is better than any modern console library. If you want to start a console war thread I suggest deleting this thread and rewording your post.

Well, the PS1 was the successor to the SNES, just without Nintendo's support. All the third parties went to Sony, all the JRPGs, all the interesting games and everything else was at Sony, just not Nintendo. PS1 even had 2D games, with sprites! It has an amazing library and the day translators start working on PS1 games well be terrific.

That said, I don't think the quality is that different from modern consoles. If anything modern consoles might be better, because the polish is better on average. But then again, how many full priced titels are modern consoles getting? Less or more than in the retro days?

The issue with the PS2 is that most multiplats run and looked better on the other consoles.

I think these would be its biggest exclusives, although they would get rereleased in future consoles, like Dragon Quest 8 on 3DS or the Metal Gear games in hd collections.
The 2 Maximo games, the 2 Metal Gear games, the GTA games, Dragon Quest 8, Klonoa 2, Devil may cry 1 and 3, Katamari Damacy, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, God Hand, Virtua Fighter 4.

>>2838682
>inferior version of Aladdin

it's not a "version" because the SNES Aladdin was its own game developed by Capcom, maybe you're thinking about the NES port of Aladdin which was indeed an inferior version from the Genesis one?

>worst 16 bit Castlevania

"worst" 16 bit Castlevania still means it's a great game worth playing. Still, I don't think IV is the worst one. Any cherrypicked criticism you can choose you can also do on the other games (Rondo? lol Maria ez modo and item crash broken mechanic. Bloodlines? lol autoscroller stages and broken blue orb sub weapon that kills anything instantly, etc)

Stop memeing, idiot.

If you don't think the SNES has a great library, you're a bitter person who probably didn't own one back in the day, same goes for people shitting on the Genesis.

I think the NES was much more revolutionary when it came out.

But I think the SNES took the formula for games NES created and drastically improved it.

The SNES Mario Games are better than the NES ones.
The SNES Zelda is better than the NES ones.
The SNES Megamans are better than the NES ones.

Etc. etc.

And don't misinterpret it as me bashing the NES. The NES is a damn good console with fantastic games. I just feel the SNES ones were improved versions of their NES counterparts.

Very debatable. X1-3 are great, but MM1-6 are great too. I give the edge to the NES MMs because MM7 is mediocre and MM Soccer is just silly.

Why the fuck do people use this "nostalgia" argument for everything? I literally never had a SNES as a kid. I've beaten most of the SNES games I'm familiar with in the last two years, and I still think it has an amazing library. I think that the PS1/2 do, as well.

And another thing: why is it always everything or nothing with you people? Why can't you just acknowledge that multiple systems can have great libraries? You're the same type of person who would say SMB3 sucks just because you prefer World.

That's just how the internet works, extremely polarized and extremist opinions prevail all arguments and debates.
I also think the same way you do, but we're a minority.

Also since I don't feel like opening a new thread just to ask this: anyone here has a copy of Castlevania IV? does it take like 3 or 4 seconds until the Konami logo appears on screen after you turn on the console?

I always wondered if it was just my copy or if it's like that on them all. Nothing particularly strange, some games take a few seconds until they boot, but I always thought it was weird.

>Yes, but most modern consoles are overloaded with crap games and shovelware with good games few and far between.

That applies to literally every single console ever. SNES had a ton of garbage as well. Ultimately though, the ratio of good games to shit games on a console is completely irrelevant. All that matters is the total number of good games.

A console with 100 amazing games and 10 000 pieces of shovelware will always be better than one with 50 amazing games and 50 pieces of shovelware. Twice as good to be precise.

Why is it "not good at all"? Give me reasons, don't tell me "it sucks" or "it isn't like the movie" or shit like that.

As >>2840182 said, both are solid games. Virgin's Aladdin has great sprite animation (but kind of weak backgrounds), while the Capcom game has tighter controls as opposed to the Virgin game which has... well, typical Virgin/dave perry controls, not unplayable, but not great either, with some hit detection issues.

I consider the Capcom game to be the better one, but both games are decent, and as you said, different, so there's no reason to not play both.

But if you want to debate me and give me your arguments as to why you think the SNES one is "not good at all", I'm open for it, just don't come up with retarded arguments like "it's shit" or "aladdin doesn't use a sword".
