DKC series and nes Mario games got em. I enjoy the ice levels of those as well.
Ice Climber is one big ice level.
The first world of EVO was a sweet waterworld.

I often hate water or underwater levels, like in Crash Bandicoot 3 for example, truly awful.

But after some thinking, I realised I kinda enjoyed them in Super Mario World.
The music was enjoyable too.

the levels with baby yoshi were nice cuz you could move a bit faster. the only thing that sucks about most water levels in platformers is that they're slooow

>> No.2824307

>>2821656
There needs to be more fast paced, dynamic water levels. I can't think of many retro examples of this, they usually are very slow. I'd like to see something like water park-themed levels or maybe a game where you're a fish and water movement is natural and interesting, rather than a hindrance for the most likely humanoid character.

the game is 13 years old, which is quite old but definitely not retro, right?

once nintendo shoves nx down everyone's throats, it'll be 3 generations removed...

>> No.2825154

>>2824851
I guess.
So the rule is, three generations behind?

>> No.2825182

>>2825154
This is the rule:

>This board is for the discussion of classic, or "retro" games. Retro gaming means consoles, computer games, arcade games (including pinball) and any other forms of video games on platforms launched in 1999 and earlier. With the release of the 8th generation of consoles, the Sega Dreamcast will now be considered "retro", though the remainder of the sixth generation (Xbox, PS2, GameCube) will not.

An update to the rule will probably happen some day, but not yet.

>> No.2825191

Fine with me but I'm looking forward to the day Gamecube becomes discussable here.

Thing with Halo, as with most any shooter franchises, is that nobody plays the old entries anymore. Hell, I don't think anybody can even play 2 online anymore.
