You sure? I'm certain the first few S&K carts would cause the Genesis to error out and just give a black screen due to running out of memory.

This is why most RPGs don't work with S&K.

Grey box, Z64. Dumps games to Zip disks.
White box, V64. Plays ROMs burned to CDRs, apparently can dump them too according to what I read ... I have one, but could've sworn it had a non-burning optical drive, not sure. I found it at a thrift then just stuck it in the closet.

>You sure? I'm certain the first few S&K carts would cause the Genesis to error out and just give a black screen due to running out of memory.
nah
For the stack, the Genesis would try to address the 4MB of ROM that it can like usual, and the ROM chips would undervolt due to it trying to power through the whole stack, causing unreliable reads, VDP glitches, etc.
this is probably bad for every component involved in the stack, undervolting is pretty bad for most tech

dunno if you could get that many as in >>2816027 working though
I also don't know the specifics (eg, is it the bottom cart that boots the machine? I think so, but I'm not 100%. There's definitely some kind of straight passthrough with the top port, so it's probably just banking whatever it accesses through the slot to the second half of the 4MB address space, so the stack might just be the Genesis, S&K, and then a shitton of copper between until it gets to whatever if anything is on top, but wouldn't it just bank in the S&K half? It does work, but I dunno why).

Most RPGs don't work with S&K because they have their own SRAM on the cart (S&K will happily overwrite it, so don't do that), and because they're too big (you're banking 4MB onto the 2MB S&K ROM, and the Genesis can't address 6MB of ROM at once like that, not without a mapper to bankswitch portions).

It's a hardware-based NSF player.
Cartridge on the riser if the controller, the other four are for audio expansions (up to 5). There's another discontinued control cartridge that has a built-in FDS chip so you can use all 6 expansions at once.

The riser is also a passthrough.

Bottom thing with the disc tray is a Doctor V64, used for backing up games and you can even use it to develop 64 games.

above that is a N64 obviously, with what I believe is a rom backup utility? I think the roms are burned to a disc which is why there is a disc tray.

On top of that looks like a game genie or some kind of region unlock thingy, and then obviously starfox 64
