Recently managed to get 8 people to play pic related with, holy fuck is it fun, probably the most I've ever enjoyed multiplayer Bomberman. Single player is alright, the environments are really pretty and the boss battles are fun as fuck, but otherwise it's your typical single-player Bomberman affair. Neat little cutscenes every now and then.

Basically if you have a modchip or are willing to import, Saturn Bomberman is good shit.

I don't know. It's a great system but it has a pretty large, vocal fanbase in the retro community. I'd say the Mega CD or Neo Geo Pocket are probably more underrated.

only on /vr/, and it's more of a meme than actually being underrated, kids who think they're 2cool4school saying N64 is overrated, but N64 was always popular and obviously part of popular culture.

Saturn is underrated, but definitely not on /vr/, we have Saturn threads 24/7

It was my friend's TV so I don't know the exact size, probably like 30 inches or so if I had to guess. Anyway the game screen doesn't zoom out to ant level unless there's 9+ players, in which case it forces you to play on the "Wide" stage.

8 people and less let's you play on the standard stages, fit on the screen without zooming out or scrolling, so it's quite playable. Even on a 20 inch TV I bet it'd be fine.

Just making sure, you're not interested in PAL games, right? Because that would add another layer of confusion what with 50/60 HZ and some games being optimised for it and some not. But if you're not buying PAL you're fine.

PAL optimized games have the bottom of the screen cut off in 60hz mode, while unoptimized games run slow as shit and letterboxed in 50hz mode. That's about it.

There are 2-3 great PAL exclusives (Parodius, Keio Flying Squadron 2) but iirc none of them were optimized, so you can just pop them in any NTSC Saturn as long as you have some way of getting around the region lock.

Learn the pattern of the beeping sound. It gets a little getting used to but once you know it, you'll know exactly when to shoot.

>SOTN on Saturn has semi English menus too

For the Start menu and maybe the file save/load screen, yeah. But every other menu is in Japanese. It's not that difficult to get used to it, but it's not too fun looking up weapon and item names all the time, so I'd recommend SOTN only if you are familiar with at least basic kana (or with SOTN in general).

It has more slowdowns than regular Sonic 2.

Also, I see people always comment on Sonic Jam fucking up the sound, but I never noticed it.

I guess they changed some of the sound effects? invincibility music?
