Well it's a Madcatz brawl pad so it kind of was. But they're pretty well made and that one reminds me of the Saturn pad but fits my giant hands better. Got it for fighters, but I use it for most retro gaming now.

Also I sanded the wrestling artwork off which makes it look a little odder.

Don't say that if you haven't seen it in person. It's not a shitty LED with motion blur, it's designed for gaming. 4millisecond response time and high refresh rate. With the AMA set to premium which is what I keep it at, even playing twitchy stuff like Super Turbo has no blur at all. It's a pretty gorgeous screen.

I have the whole range of retro and well as modern consoles as well as several computers, so it's impossible for me to pick one perfect setup like an emufag.
I have a CRT and LCD in the living room. Sofas and sofa like things. Me and everyone else in the family has friends.
A CRT and LCD in the gaming room. No sofas. It's full of all my shit left over from the dotcom crash. Aeron chairs, a vero rack, a sun 450 turned into a mini fridge, a g4 turned into a draught pump
LCDs in the bedrooms. Nothing special. Switch boxes with cables if anyone wants to plug in a console that's not already there.
Projector in the entertainment room. Old high lumen thing that supports RGB. I've thought about adding an HD one for movies but never got around to it. It's used for gaming more than 50% of the time anyway.

That sounds like a pretty nice set up. It's just me and my wife in my house and we're both pretty minimal. When I want to get upclose with my gaming I pull the rocker up like in the OP. But that's also the main TV we watch everything on and we use a couch on the other side.

I do have a CRT in my art room with a Saturn and Dreamcast hooked up, but that's about it for actual retro hardware other than handhelds. In the mid 00's when emulation started getting much better I started purging a lot of the physical hardware I'd been accumulating.

So for me pretty much everything just on a laptop and one screen works perfectly. Nothing against people who like collecting tech at all, I just have too much other stuff. To me it's just clutter.

No kids for me, and the fairly limited time we have to spend together me and my wife either watch or play the same things at those times. Otherwise I'll just unplug the laptop and play like that while she uses the Xbox for Netflix or whatever.

Why though?

There's no blur or input lag on my screen which are two of the major things CRT proponents say are bad about modern screens. I am not at all invested in the nostalgia of wanting my games to look the same as they did when I was younger. I think the image output on my monitor looks magnitudes better than any CRT anywhere.

This is my retro section. All consoles hooked up via many scart cables and 3 scart switchboxes.

The TV is a Goodmans, whatever the fuck that is, and its old as all balls. Image is a little scaled up but I am not too fussed.

Alright, I'll stop messing with you since you seem so antsy to be let in on the joke. What are commonly referred to as "LED monitors" and "LED TVs" are really just the same shitty old LCD displays that use LED bulbs as their lighting source instead of fluorescent bulbs. You may as well call the older ones "fluorescent displays," which is just as misleading. They have only been renamed as marketing-speak to cash in on OLED hype.

Real LED (including all variants of OLED, like SAMOLED in some smartphones) is actually luminescent, similar to plasma and CRT. No backlight required, like your LED-backlit LCD.

>> No.2815645

>>2815629
Ahhh I gotcha.

I call it an LED just because that's what the screen itself says. I don't honestly know or care all that much about the technical aspects of screens. When buying it I did enough research to make sure I was getting something that would work for what I wanted to use it for, and that's all I really cared to learn.

So long as the picture quality is good and it doesn't go blurry when I'm playing fast paced games is all I really care about. If it's called an LED but is really an LCD with different lighting or something, that's a detail I don't really care about.

>>2803923

This isn't a tech thread or else somebody would have already jumped down your throat for that response, lel

BTW as far as LCDs go, you do have a pretty good one since at least it does backlight strobe.

Exactly, this was never meant to be a tech thread. Heck it wasn't even supposed to turn into yet another fight over screen tech at all. I did like the close up pic I took, and I love my screen overall, but I think it's cool there are also people who still like CRTs and there are some cool set ups in this thread.

Fundamentally though I really don't care about the details of tech at all. I just want to make my games look the way I like and after that it's all about actually playing them.

I like my CRT for my retro games, they seem to play better, not sure if it's input lag or scan-lines or what, they just play better. It is a PVM. I did get it while it was still cheap, so I don't think its that big of a deal. Light guns didn't work on my 2011 screen, they work on the PVM, I didn't really care about light guns that much but still it is a perk to be able to use the justifier. It is an attractive medical version, fits a nice boxy aesthetic. and above all else I put things on top of it. It's practically a perfect cube.

I agree that some of the crt douchebags are odd ball hipsters who ( i hope didn't) spent 200+ dollars on a 14" crt. But I think the shitposting on crt's in a general way is kinda bullshit. they are pretty good pieces of equipment if well purposed.
Having multiple (3+) units is kinda strange too. like why?
