I think the old dendy's are as good as any late80s/early 90s famiclones

best thing about famiclones back in the day was the accessibility and library of games. sure there were a lot of awful/hilarious stuff like Somari or Street Fighter III, but famiclones also had a lot of japanese games that would have been otherwise stayed in Japan only, and it was thanks to piracy that many people in the west got to play them before emulation was a thing, like Battle City.

Could there be weird games like this on the real Gameboy?

I remember playing thid cartridge that supposedly had 15 games on it, but it only had 5 games with 3 different titles. Never seen that before.

One game was a really short Pinoccio game.

But one of the games was actually a Mario game. However, I cannot imagine it being a real Nintendo game. The draw distance was too low, enemies and platforms moved way too fast, and I couldn't even beat the first fucking level. It had fait production values, though, if I remember correctly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9Ff4d2pFIY

This looks like some sort of 70s or 80s cartoon, but it was actually made in 1996! Put that in perspective. The Nintendo 64 was already out in Japan and the US by then. And yet this cartoon is literally about a bootleg NES mascot!

>In 1995, Mikhail Zaitsev wrote the script for a video game about Captain Pronin and contacted a computer company, but had encountered incomprehension in the chosen company and delayed his idea.[1] In June 1997, he took an interest in an advertising insert in the magazine Game.EXE, and contacted the company Izdatelsky Dom Domashny Kompyuter (IDDK).[1][15] After his proposal was accepted by IDDK, the game was produced by Pavel Krivoruchko, the music was made with the help of composer Taras Buhevsky, the graphics was created by artist Yelena Karavaeva, and the development process took less than three months in total.[1] In September 1997, the interactive fiction game Captain Pronin: One Against All was released for the PC,[1][2] and later unofficially ported to PlayStation.[16] The adventure quest has 400 endings[1] and 200 animated scenes,[16] its graphics has the similar style as the cartoon series,[16] and the text contains humour, jokes and allusions to various foreign and domestic pop culture references.[1][17] The game holds a 33% audience rating at Absolute Games.[18]

It's probably quicker, cheaper, and easier to whip up a soundtrack on a synth than to get together an entire band. This was pretty standard practice everywhere, mind you. The Seinfeld soundtrack was done on a Korg M1, for example. Back then it just stood out more because the synthesizers and samplers didn't sound very natural. Nowadays, professional sample libraries are so advanced that lots of stuff is probably made in a sequencer on a computer and you'd barely know the difference.

The cartridge also had Tetris (because of course!), Dr. Mario (one of my favorite puzzle games), some shitty Disney Hercules game, a Mario game which I'm not entirely sure was an official Mario title to begin with, Bomb Jack, and that's all I can recall now.

Spica famiclones (and the games) are dirt cheap so everyone can easily have one though not everyone chose to. It even works well and fairly durable especially for its price.

Yes. I had a 40 in 1 cart that had every 1 and 2 pokemon game along with some bootlegged games on it (notably, the Crystal version was the infamous incomprehensible Vietnamese Crystal bootleg). Among the bootleg games there was "Pokemon Pinball" (Pinball: Revenge of the Gator with Pikachus on the title screen), "Pokemon Land" (Super Mario Land hack where you play as Pikachu and the enemy sprites are different Pokemon) and the Super Mario Land 4 game you described (which is a hack of Crayon Shin-Chan).

SO yeah Gameboy (Color, too, obligatory mention of Horrifying 9/11) was still a ripe platform for bootlegs.

Too many youtubers do the whole expression changing thing. Maybe he worked in retail. I worked at a grocery store for ten years. I never smiled for photos, I never smiled for visiting relatives, smiling feels stupid and takes more effort and energy than I can be bothered to muster. But I did the whole fake smile and "can I help you with anything sir/ma'am?" bullshit for a decade.

Because I didn't want to move in with my family again and there are few things I wouldn't have done during that time to leave that miserable city. It's been 15 years since then. I'm not happy, but then, I can't remember ever being happy. I'm nowhere near as miserable as I was then.

But I don't smile, or cry, or get angry, or any of that. And I never did. Except when I had to play the role of a happy upbeat helpful employee and smile all day, day in and day out.

People don't naturally show emotions. It's taught to you as a child. And if you fail to learn like I did, people don't like you very much and life will be hard. Just look at animals. They don't show any emotion. Only we do, because somebody at some time thought we needed to have a visual language to broadcast how you're feeling at any given time.

It's reached the point where people who don't smile or laugh or show disgust are considered sociopathic and abnormal, when the reality is that they are the only ones who actually ARE normal anymore. You didn't come out of the womb thinking in English. Is it that hard to believe you didn't come out of the womb with "non-verbal communication" as part of your mental wiring? Do you think if you went back in time 10,000 years, that anybody would instinctively understand what it meant when you nod your head up and down, gave a thumbs up, or flashed the peace sign or even the middle finger?

It's hard to comprehend because it has been so deeply embedded in you. Though this is just a theory of mine. The paranoid part of me believes that all displays of emotion are conscious.

Autism is a buzzword on 4chan, not seldom used incorrectly.

Edge-anon could be autistic, maybe, but being unable to actually understand emotions, that's not autism, autists have emotions, and they know what emotions are, they just have trouble properly comprehending social cues, body language, facial expressions, as well as properly linking emotions and social cues to context. Most usually pick up on how to understand this to a rudimentary degree as they grow up, but unless correctly identified as autism and they actively make an effort to learn, they'll have difficulties.

This Edgeanon here, however, doesn't seem to actually understand what emotions is at all, and has figured that because he can't understand emotions, they aren't genuine. My first guess is that he's Schizotypal, based on this.

Wikipedia says:
>Schizotypal Personality Disorder is a personality disorder characterized by a need for social isolation, anxiety in social situations, odd behavior and thinking, and often unconventional beliefs. People with this disorder feel extreme discomfort with maintaining close relationships with people, so they avoid forming them. Peculiar speech mannerisms and odd modes of dress are also diagnostic signs of this disorder. In some cases, people with STPD may react oddly in conversations, not respond, or talk to themselves.[1] They frequently misinterpret situations as being strange or having unusual meaning for them; paranormal and superstitious beliefs are not uncommon.

This sounds like it kind of matches, but I should stress that I'm NOT a professional, nor do I have any education in this, and neither does anyone of us here, and you should never self-diagnose, we can armchair all we want, but what Edgeanon really should do is to see a professional psychiatrist and ask them to make a diagnosis, to see if he's Schizotypal. I could be entirely wrong on my guess, all I know for certain is that he has mental/emotional problems he must try to treat.

>look at cats and dogs
Look at reptiles, rodents, and most wild animals. They can feel pain and pleasure, certainly, but they don't smile, or cry, or do much of anything but have a blank expression on their face. Even cute little bunnies, they just stare straight forward with a thousand yard stare staying almost completely still while their jaws chew the food in their mouth. Animals don't exaggerate their injuries, because that would tell predators that they are weak. It can be hard to tell when animals are hurt because they will "hide" it, while we've been trained to roll around and make noise to alert others.

>In reality, only a very small handful of people "need" therapy. Those that see things that aren't there, don't know where they are, and are a threat to themselves and others. But therapy is largely used as a tool to brainwash people into being consistent with whatever society they live in.

>>2805063
I know that I am expected to believe that when people cry, they can't help it and it's involuntary. I'm not emotionless. But when I'm sad, even miserable, I don't just suddenly cry. There's no magical force that causes my expression to change. For most of my childhood, I thought that people just decided to cry when they are expected to, and wouldn't cry if there was nobody who would see them do so. I even practiced in front of a mirror for a while attempting to teach myself the same behavior, but I couldn't ever get teary-eyed or red-faced. There's still a part of my that wants me to believe it's a fully conscious act, but observation tells me that it's likely genuine, even if I lack the capacity to fully understand.

You have either brain damage or some serious chemical inbalance.
>Look at reptiles, rodents, and most wild animals
You do know that most animals don't have the same kind of facial musculature we have, right? their emotions are displayed in diferent ways. Cats for example use their ears and eyes to convey 90% of their emotions, and leash their tail if they are angry or annoyed.

>They can feel pain and pleasure, certainly, but they don't smile, or cry, or do much of anything but have a blank expression on their face
Because not all animals emote with their faces. Dogs do to some degree (there's specific facial expressions dogs will make that you can identify and understand even), but they communicate a lot more through body language.
And they definitively display sadness, it's not unusual for dogs to howl to express sorrow, and you can see a dog is sad by just looking at them.
Cats are frequently observed to mourn, now, they can be manipulative little bastards, but they are emotional, they miss people when they're gone. Also, cats dogs are mammals, lizards are not.

>and most wild animals
Do you know what a pack animal is?
Lions, bears, monkeys, wolves, elephants, they work on instinct a lot, and the wilderness is harsher, sure, but they've been clearly observed to display emotions.
Elephants are about on the intellectual level of a 14 year old human, they visit elephant graveyards and sites where relatives died to mourn, they can even express this by painting pictures, they have a concept of revenge and will actually seek out specific humans (or other animals) who have wronged them to get their personal vengeance

I'm not sure if it's that I don't give a damn about relationships so much as I don't have any and it doesn't really cross my mind. I cut ties with my parents as they grew increasingly less fond of me and the feeling was mutual.

I had "friends" in school, but I would see them point and laugh when they were with their other friends, they would try to get me to drink things or put things in an electrical socket and generally try to trick me like they did with some of the other odd students. They only seemed to want my companionship in the hope that I could provide amusement in the same way, but I never did. Eventually "friendship" became doing others homework in exchange for food, as they realized I never had lunch at school and had nothing better to do but to do their homework in exchange for lunch of some kind.

I would have to imagine it's as much my own apathy as it is other's lack of interest in me. I'm not very exciting, but I still probably wouldn't notice a potential relationship if it hit me.

When you are playing a game, do you jump out of your fucking chair and start pissing on everything like some guy on YouTube? When a game sucks, do you shit on it, break the disc, and sing a song about betrayal? Do you seriously not understand the concept of putting on a show? The novelty lies in that the AVGN takes a shit on a game he doesn't like, JUST because no real person does that, the guy who plays him doesn't do that for real (that isn't real shit in the videos), everyone understands that.

People get so angry and passionate about the console wars and game series. The AVGN only ever did it in jest, because his main passion was film and he was much more vested in entertaining than simply informing, but it seems like now we have a generation of people who thought Nintendo vs Sega was World War III on the schoolyard and that the normal reaction to any kind of flaw in a game is to flip out and the same tired memes every day.

It's kept me out of trouble, while my family has ended up even more impoverished than they were when I left, with awful habits and two sisters of mine who have five kids between them and low paying jobs and welfare. Meanwhile I have almost six figures in savings and I do work I may not be good at if I allowed my personality to change.

I have a lot of physical pain and sickness. Since I was a teenager I was afflicted with something I call "the madness", a feeling that overwhelms me with wrath, intense dizziness, weakness, I start shaking intensely unless I cover one of my eyes with my hand, and my brain has difficulty processing what I'm looking at for some time after.

I've never been very happy. I'm not totally anti-social. I have a lot of money, but there is little that I want. I don't believe in charities and tend to use it for random acts of kindness. That is really good.

Also, would anybody know where the hell you got these things back in the '90s? I know Dendy had proper stores, but what about all the others? Did the games have boxes and/or instructions? How much did they cost (at least compared to the real thing)?

Dendy brand stores were scarce, most of commonly available game cartridges were Chinese bootlegs that were being sold at kiosks, open air bazaars or small stores located in basements right next to alcohol, tobacco, bubblegum, snacks, pet food and the others new shiny things that appeared in the country in the 90s. Of course there were no manuals or boxes at all. Don't know how much they did cost compared to the original ones since the originals weren't available but with me being a common teen kid back then I was able to afford one once in a while with pocket money that I was given.

Janitors/Mods seriously need to clean up this thread. Way too much non-/vr/ talk about cartoons, communism, russian in general, autism, some other issues ect.
Get back to topic or gtfo people.
