Sell all your non-everdrive/burned games
soon before they become worthless.

>> No.2789735

Why the fuck would I sell them? I didn't get them to be a reseller hipster.

Video games are art.
Just like Paintings and other forms of art, they will only rise in price until they are worth millions. Give it 100 years or so

Probably around the same time the market for vintage records pops. That's to say, never.

When the singularity occurs, noone will give a shit about retro games anymore.

Lol
Surely in 2215 this opus magnum will be worth a fortune in auction halls.

The hipster subculture is now over in 2015 having been absorbed into the mainstream like the emo before them and the wigger before them.

Notice how black, thick rimmed glasses, plaid shirts buttoned all the way to the top and islamic style beards are worn by all the normies from dudebros to moviestars.

Vinyl records are 50c in the smaller thrift shops.

This painting sold for 72 million dollars.

The reason that game wont ever be worth anything though is its mass produced

those records are basically the equivalent of games like othello and captain skyhawk

Meh, It depends on the jewness shop, quality of the material and how widely manufactured it was.

You can find Michael Jackson's Thriller and Mario Bros/Duck Hunt for prices varying wildly from $1-$20 depending where you're shopping.

You wouldnt feel bad paying $5 for either, but places know they could probably get someone to pay $15 for each.

>> No.2789846

>>2789794
It also depends on if games become accepted as upper-class status symbols. Right now they only serves as status among hipsters and certain gamers, part of whom only care because it is a fad. The mass-production thing is definitely a factor, too. Prototypes/samples, prizes, limited editions and so on have a higher chance of growing in value due to limited availability, but even then only for popular games.

Fake.

The last time NWC sold on eBay was in 2009 and it sold for $20,000.

No it's not like used games in thrift shops where all you find is pro niggerball association and trailer park truck rampage.

You can find good music easily.

I found this vinyl recently:

I work as an art show curator at a private liberal arts university and you would not believe the kind of cubist/abstract "a 10-year-old could do this" shit I see go for thousands of dollars weekly. It's all about scarcity and word of mouth networking (dick stroking) among rich businessmen. Somewhat akin to retro game notoriety, in a way I guess.

Retro is only popular because of the nostalgia factor which is fading fast as people grow out of their twenties, get married+kids and a real career/responsibilities.

The new generation today with their flatbrim caps have no interest in retro.

Go look at any PS2 game on youtube.
You'll see kids screaming in the comments "This game looks like garbage!!!! Thank god for Xbone/PS4"

Click an Oblivion(remember? the game where the NPCs all look like they have downs) video and you will see youth praising it as being hardcore and not dumbed down like Skyrim.
If they have even heard of Morrowind they consider it too archaic to play.

When these youngsters do play an older game (because they saw their favorite Eceleb do a vid on it) they stick with the most mainstream accessible shit like SMB3. They SHIT on obscure titles like VibRibbon.
