What's the most obscure console or game you own?

>> No.2779565

It's almost 2016 and retro games are the hottest shit since grunge.

Nothing is obscure and the more obscure it was then the bigger entitlement it gives you now.

>> No.2780658

well, I have a Sega Master System 2
or had, I'm not sure if I still own it

probably not too obscure or rare

>> No.2780675

>>2780581
lol yeah are you sure you haven't been reading my posts because i'm all the time talking about that too

xegs is what 5200 would have liked to be but it needed to be cheaper, earlier and it still wasn't cheap enough for people to have bothered porting to, then XEGS had the library native, better controllers but came too late. Also no Space Dungeon.

Computers, not Jag is the place to look at what good post-vcs Atari games were like and XEGS is a good gateway drug. I was dumb not to cherry pick all those XE carts I used to see all the time strung in with VCS just because I didn't have the console. Now consoles are pretty cheap but the games are getting piss expensive.

that's the life I chose as a console gamer I guess.

my experience with those is poor though. I had a Sears Video Arcade II which did combination joystick/paddles, and it worked like shit because the mechanics were too complicated (granted this was a joystick that was also a paddle, not two separate devices, so that's not surprising).

The bigger issue is that it used special wiring for paddle games, so you couldn't use standard paddles. Unless you have four of the unique joystick/paddle combo units, you won't be able to play Warlords or Pong Sports correctly, which to me is half of why I own a 2600.

I considered using crowdfunding to get the money to buy all the equipment needed (16 fb2k, 16 game boys, 15 link cables, and 7 4-player adapters, plus batteries or AC adapters isn't cheap). Then it could be a miniature event of sorts. I have a number of ideas for what to do with such an event but lack the drive to really put it into the real.

I've tried that, without good results. The symptoms are strange; to begin with it still plays CD-Rs of most games fine, also the problems it exhibits in Soul Calibur is that the laser sled will waggle back and forth as if it can't get smack on center or something when it's playing the music tracks. Some tracks will have more intense waggling (larger amplitude) than others. It's the music tracks specifically that are the problem.

It plays CDs just fine though. And most games that don't use redbook audio (unless I'm wrong and Soul Calibur uses something else) work fine.
