What are some legit still fun to this day retro sports games?

Wave Race on N64 is still probably the best watercraft racing game, and Final Match Tennis on PC-Engine/Turbografx is still the best tennis game.
Tennis games peaked in the 16 bit Generation, perhaps because back then the USA had many good tennis players, so it was a more popular sport (I am not American, so not sure about that).

You could make a thread alone for baseball games.

Cool Borders
Sled Storm
Steep Slope Sliders
Wave Race 64
The Tony Hawks series
JSRF

Blades of Steel for the NES.

Invite one of your friends over, crack a few beers and enjoy the ensuing mayhem. It may not look pretty, but the gameplay is spot on.

Baseball Stars will never not be fun. Never.

Wave Race 64 is god-tier to this day.
I remember playing Blue Storm on the Gamecube when it came out and being disappointed, it wasn't as good (I believe it was also developed by an outsourced dev, not EAD).

Speaking of EAD, 1080 Snowboarding is also still pretty great.

it is a big shame that Nintendo only makes sports games with Mario characters and items, they can make great "normal" sports games if they want to.

Super Tennis on Super Nintendo was pretty good and made by Nintendo.

Street Hoop for MAME, Tiny Toon Adventures: ACME All-Stars for Genesys, I'm not actually a fan of sport games, like at all, but these are fun.

That was by Tokyo Shoseki. Nintendo simply published it.

I always assumed it was by Nintendo, just like Tennis on the NES was.

Super Soccer was also pretty good, and I always assumed it was by Nintendo, but I just checked and it was actually made by Human Entertainment.

RBI Baseball tbh. Especially if you're playing with someone else. Just be sure to pick Houston, as they got Nolan Ryan and he's basically impossible to hit against.

I think we've had this thread so many times everbody is leaving all the obvious ones for someone else.

>Mutant League Football
>Mutant League Hockey
>NFL Blitz

Two I know a lot of pwople have played that I love that don't get mentioned as often:

>Super High Impact Football
>Arch Rivals
>BaseWars

I'm a sucker for sticking extra violence in my sports games.

Super Dodgeball (most versions rock but dat Neo Geo version, mang)
Soccer Brawl
Windjammers (alright it's a fantasy sport but has tennis/soccer/even b ball elements)
Neo Turf Masters

Neo Geo rocks for this shit. Though non Neo Geo wise I dig the Smash Court Tennis games and of course HERE I AM 1-3 (all various Playstation formats).

Special mention to Tecmo Cup Soccer Game/Captain Tsubasa 1+2 for making standard-ass soccer actually fun, too. Wish I knew more rpg tactics-style soccer games.

Super Baseball Simulator 1.000 for NES is a lot of fun.
