I literally have a Retro Duo in place of the Super in my entertainment center for this aesthetic reason and this reason only.

Are there any other consoles you can think of that are absolutely unavailable in black/charcoal?

It's unavailable for Laseractive but Pioneer "Elite" series laserdisc players and other electronics are available in the mythical "urushi" finish. One could probably "dress" an A100 in this one's premium finery but... Still no Nintendo PAC

All Game Boys but Color are available in black and you're obviously aware of Net Yaroze. My complaint is there is simply no such thing as a black Super (NES/Fami). I've thought of having an auto paint pro zotz some cases for me but I'd probably start with my N64. Black painted SNESs look weird. Maybe an SFami though.

I have one of these. There's a glossier one that has a gray controller port facade I could probably switch but honestly my housekeeping isn't good enough I truly bother much with gloss.

N64 is SO gray though.

I'll post some shit I want. Yes, I would take a Duo over a Duo R because it's black. Some chick on Craigslist has a Turbo Duo console only I've been trying to lowball away from her but she's shit at returning email. Probably doesn't work and I can almost guarantee she wouldn't meet me at the import store for them to test it for me with their cables.

At the time the SNES was released, Nintendo was still competing in a big way with SEGA... and since all the SEGA consoles were always black I have a feeling they kinda wanted to leave them that one color and stick with the beige tone.

LOL I dunno if you'll be able to turn this into a console war but usually I'm right there with you on that. N64 is pretty much the only common console I only own a single example of. It got played a lot at parties back in the day at my apartment but it's mostly useless for my modern purposes. I do find myself emulating it more than one might expect though, especially on my handheld. The entire N64 library only takes up about the same amount of storage as Final Fantasy 7-8-9 and the glitchiness is kind of interesting too for a laugh.

I dunno if Nintendo could have adequately gauged the loss in consumer confidence Sega had suffered when they were choosing their mold color... Although N64 was WAY late to market so maybe. Ultras are also charcoal though.

I only own 4 consoles, a Wii with homebrew, a modded PS2, a Saturn and an N64 with a Flashcart.
