According to Guiness World Records, Sega made the most arcade games.

But in your opinion, did they also make the best?

>> No.2746296

Yes

>> No.2746297

They championed the 3D arcade market.

>> No.2746327

Yes.

>> No.2746329

Unquestionably, yes.

>> No.2746331

I wouldn't know.
I wasn't some retarded rich kid that spent quarter after quarter trying every arcade game in existence.

>> No.2746332

>>2746331
Well that's just great, buddy. I think I'll go into a thread about some game I've never even heard of and announce that fact.

I think all arcade studios at Sega are equally good.

Sega Rally, Top Saker, Gunblade or House of the Dead 2? All great.

/vr/ has been really REALLY dumb lately. What's up with that?

>>2746337
First time I saw Virtua Fighter 3 in the arcade was a revelation. I honestly thought it looked exactly like real life.

>> No.2746341

So you have tried every arcade game ever without an emulator? Or are you just in here talking about games you actually have no clue about?

I dunno. I'll let you anons tell me. I honestly never looked at who was making the arcade games or machines I played as a kid. I've been looking into buying a Time Crisis cabinet for the game room. Namco makes that. What are some of the better arcade games made by sega?

Fair enough but I doubt I've been in a legitimate arcade in 15-17 years. I remember the game titles mostly. Not really any decent ones near where I live these days. All of my gaming is done from home.

I've cleared the first 4 goals in Out Run and am working on the last, the right-most route. This is my best score so far, on the easiest route.

Before THPS this was the premier skating experience. Money a token was spent feeding this beast at the local Putt-Putt.

If we're going strictly by arcade games, I think Sega made the best in the world.

>>2746346
I'm still mad there's no ports of most of the Model 3 games.

Namco was actually pretty great too.
at least to me, the big triumvirate of arcade games was Sega, Namco, and Taito

Alot of old school Japanese fans didn't like that Sega went the complicated and expensive route with arcade games.

It's a toss up between Bandai Namco and Sega for me.

Yu Suzuki made some of the best arcade games ever.... so Sega probably gets the edge.

>> No.2746593

As far as arcade games go they were untouchable, though I really love Taito and Namco too, the combination of technology, craftsmanship and programming at SEGA was just too damn great.

>> No.2746740

To me, knowing that SEGA made that arcade game is a guarantee that I'll have a great time playing it, so I can say yes.

sometimes I don't think /vr/ fully understands what kind of revolution Street Fighter brought about.

They certainly had an INCREDIBLY diverse portfolio of games.

Let me ask you, /vr/, what do

A barbarian
a ninja
zombies
a jet fighter
a taxi (?)
NASCAR
a little blue bird
some house thieves
and
Star Wars

have in common?

They were all protagonists or were the main theme of a Sega arcade game.

what.

I think these guys were the most consistent at pushing out quality games. Every great company has pushed out a few shameful kusoges here and there, but I honestly can't think of anything outright terrible from Irem. RIP 1974 - 1994

Cave haven't put out a single bad game, I may not like all of them on a personal preference level but the consistency is undeniable.
