Word. The heartbreaking abomination that is THPS5 has had me playing all the old ones again. Project 8 is waaaay better than I remembered. I think because at the time, the series had already worn out. But anytime you're transferring from one "level" to another, the framerate drops to single digits, and your combo is toast. I think THPS3 is probably the peak of the "pure" series, and THUG1 is better than I remembered it being. I still haven't ever played Proving Ground. I'd be willing to give it a shot though!

If I want to play 1 and 2, should I get them on Dreamcast or 2X since it includes 1's levels?

Honestly I own 2X and it doesn't hold up. The controls feel completely different somehow. It just doesn't feel right. I'd play 1 & 2 on PS1 or Dreamcast.

Made me buy Lagwagon and Millencollin's CD's because I love May 16 and No Cigar. Still two albums I enjoy to this day.

I've been playing THUG lately on sick difficulty. How the fuck do I beat some of these stat challenges, manualing for 14 seconds is fucking impossible with shit stats, same for grind for 20. and the 400, 600 and 800k combo challenges for speed... I just can't. I don't want to use cheats, but I feel like I'd never do it otherwise.

I just read this article about THPS 2 and reminded me what made it so awesome.
http://killscreendaily.com/articles/worlds-collide-tony-hawks-pro-skater-2-and-style-skateboarding/

I want to play it again but only have the n64 version and prefer the ps1. How does the PC version compare?

>> No.2745448

>>2745435
pc version is fun, but locked at 800x600 and 30fps. I think there are mods that fix a lot of this, but afaik the best way to play on pc is to get underground 2 and install THUG Pro, which adds levels from all the previous games

hey bro, back in the day we couldn't afford the PS2 and so we got the PS1 version of Tony Hawk 3

and it's like this one, it looks like THPS2, probably same engine rather than new PS2 engine and levels stripped and gutted to shit

but since the PS1 version was what I played, I always prefer it over the PS2. And that's stupid

Surprised no one here has mentioned thugpro, it's a mod for thug2 on the pc which has maps from all thps, thug, and thaw games. The netplay for it is great.
