Is the DC Arrange Mode version that different? I only know about this scene and the costume change

>> No.2743662

>>2743647

You know...This was the first game I got with my PS1 when I was a kid and remains one of my favorite games that I still play...And I've never even thought to play arrange mode and I don't know why.

Don't know but the psx was almost the same with items in diferent places and some duplicated magazines.

>> No.2743689

DC means directors cut not Dreamcast

And the Directors cut arrange mode has all the items in different locations as well as a whole new soundtrack and quite a few background changes in some parts.

>>2743689
>a whole new soundtrack
Isn't that the Dualshock edition?

>> No.2743706

The original version is the best
None of the director's cuts added anything worthwhile. And some of the new pre rendered backgrounds were actually worse than the original.

>>2743706
PS1 Director's Cut added a nice arranged mode with a few nifty extras, auto-aim, and didn't fuck up the music like Dual Shock Director's Cut did. Kind of hard to find that one specifically though.

>> No.2743985

Arrange Mode has these differences:
- the starting pistol is different; it can score a critical hit and kill a zombie instantly
- some new camera angles in old areas, like behind the mansion stairs
- enemies do more damage and take less (compared to the original US version)
- Forest can come back as a zombie
- you can use a cheat to give yourself double pickups (ammo, ink ribbons). If you use this, the saved game will be written in red instead of white/green

>> No.2743989

>>2743725
There was auto-aim in the original Biohazard (japanese). They removed it for the US version, and also made the game easier. The DC version restores those japanese features.

>> No.2744504

DC Arrange mode is very different since you go through the mansion in a different order due to the different enemy placement. You also get different supplies item placement, different enemy placement, some new camera angles at times, some new textures for a couple of environments, new costumes, a reskined weapon, and depending on which version it is, new music as well.
Gameplay is different as well and I generally find it easier due to how a lot of the zombies which have "new placement" can easily die from a headshot of the basic headgun, after 2 or even just 1 bullet.

It's a great version for fans of the game who want more of the same. Personaly I consider worse slightly worse than the original, but it's still tons of fun.

>>2743989
>They removed it for the US version, and also made the game easier

Generally speaking, Biohazards are easier than Resident Evils.
However as far as RE1 is concerned it's not that simple. Different versions have different difficulty, depending not only on region, but also on which release it is.
For instance the original Biohazard 1 on PS1 is easier than the original RE1 PS1; however I'm pretty sure the PC version despite being "Resident Evil" is original-Jap-difficulty in all regions. Then, as far as re-releases are concerned, platinum version, Director's cut version, Saturn, etc, it looks like a total mess to me and one would have to do further testing in every version in every region to tell which has which difficulty.

>> No.2744612

>>2744504
I recall Chris arrange mode being the hardest out of all the classic resident evils I have played. Is arranged that much harder? Or do I remember wrong.

>> No.2744620

>>2744612
I don't think it's particularly harder. The beginning is even easier imo, there are more zombies but a lot of them die much more easily due to headshots.
I don't think there are more hunters either and supplies seem to be about the same, though it's been a long time.

Hardest classic RE would be RE2 on Nightmare difficulty (PC and Dreamcast only)

No more Hunters? Isn't the basement after the second yawn fight swarming with them? I remember that was my breaking point.

This stupid misconception needs to end. It only screwed up one incredibly short song while the rest were not only superior but also fit the tone of the game way more than the original soundtrack.

Good job posting the ONE song they fucked up that I even mentioned in my post retard. I swear you guys who post that song never even played the DualShock version.

Directors Cut was the only version I ever played. Back then I never even saw the original version anywhere, ever. It was like it didn't exist. No one I knew had it, everyone had the DC version.
Any other Canadian maritimers here? Did you happen to see or own the original?

You're wrong. The butchering of the intro alone where they replace the original rock band music of the cast portion with shitty strings and horns is bad enough to make me immediately go grab my (not-dual shock) director's cut, it's that bad.

Sure, that fucking basement theme gets posted every fucking time, but its not the only offender among all the music they fucked up. AT BEST you get some environmental music that is inferior in composition but doesn't detract from the scene, at worst you get the tone deaf scratching/horn tooting of a deaf man before he realized he should pay a high school music teacher to compose shit he could then claim as his own.

The original RE is a pretty solid game. It may have aged visually but the core contents and intentions are in the right places, making it a blast to play and replay even now. It also got one of the best remakes ever.

Look, I get it, its the one that sticks out in your head because the first time you played Resident Evil was on your PS3 when you downloaded it on sale, and now you're forever cursed to have that as your memory of the first RE's music. Sucks to be you. Don't take it out on the rest of us.

First time I played the Dualshock Director's Cut version I was pleasantly surprised by the musics. The novelty of it, the fact that it was different from the same musics I had heard hundreds of times, is what made it cool. I played it pretty late because the new musics never made it to any version in my country (maybe even in any European version).

However overall I find them pretty bland and forgettable in comparison with the originals. Only worth it if you want a different experience.

Ultimate Director's Cut is a RE:DC mod that re-arranges the original layout, and adds another gamemode. Check it out.

I need to play this. It's good to see mods for RE1, they aren't many. Barry's Mod didn't really change gameplay, only skins and voice files.

I wonder if there has been any progress to Rebecca's mod.

The cool thing with the DS version is that you can easily switch character models around, so you can play with anyone from the multiplayer mini game, from both Alpha and Beta teams.

RE2 has a couple of interesting mods.

The arrange mode also has Forest get up as a zombie and attack you when you try to take the bazooka, most if not all puzzle items are in different positions, one the crests needed to open the back door is broken in half, the one extra zombie jump scare in the bathroom, you get the extra costumes, several of the camera angles are different in certain areas, other areas have extra details added to the backgrounds, there's more zombies in certain spots, enemies can be in different positions (not all of them though), you get the handgun that can blow zombies' heads off and I believe that's about it.

It's not an entirely different game or anything like that, but it's about as different from normal mode as the scenarios in RE2 are from each other. Basically, different enough to make it fun for a fan, but non fans won't give a fuck either way.
