I was looking for a game to play last night and saw Demon's Crest. I bought it about a year ago but never really played much of it. I beat it last night after about 3 or 4 hours. I cannot beat the Dark Demon..not even close. It took me long enough to beat Phalanx's last form.

Who else is a fan of this game?

>> No.2738065

Phalanx was a cool fight. I never attempted the Dark Demon though to be honest.

I really enjoyed it. It's a great game, awesome graphics, but yes, Phalanx and Dark Demon are supreme bastards.

Did you play either of the Gargoyle's Quests? They're okay, but nowhere near Demon's Crest IMO.

if you didn't beat Dark Demon, you didn't really beat the game.

lol, they are way ahead of demons crest. Gargoyle's Quest 1 and 2 are tightly designed around your abilities and demons crest is not. Levels are just there.

If any game has ever been overhyped it demons crest. Decent game, looks amazing, but just not very well designed.

Thanks for informing me Colonel Autism.

I thought the levels had solid Capcom design. Decent mix of platforming and action.

The only major thing that bugged me is that you can't switch forms with the shoulder buttons. Something that was in Mega Man X before. Switching between the forms got on my nerves after some time.

That comes with the territory because of how many options/abilities you have in Demon's Crest compared to Gargoyle's Quest. I think exploring and experimenting with different routes through the game is well worth the sacrifice in level design. Especially since the levels are still pretty good.

Never played Gargoyle's Quest 1 or 2. I hope to get a NES flash cart in the future and I'll definitely play them.

The Dark Demon is pure ass. I think there was some cheap technique to beat him, but I might be wrong. Been awhile since I played this.

>> No.2739539

I beat Dark Demon every now and then to brush up on my skills. I still can't beat him without using at least 3 potions tho tbh fam.

You can play both games on the GB! Though I don't recommend the port of the second game. It's just not made for the small screen.

There are a lot of pits where you could jump from platform to platform, but there is no point doing that since you can fly forever. Unlike in the previous game where you had to earn that ability and before you gained it you had to do just that. Fly from platform to platform. which were always perfectly placed right at the end of your range. It just looks stupid how you fly about every obstacle in DC. Still a really enjoyable game, but not what I wanted from GQ3.

I didn't think it was that bad. I got the life container on my third try.

Looks like it can be found for fairly cheap. I may get it to hook up to the Super Gameboy.

Huge fan of the game here. Just beat it a year ago. I remember trying to play the game as a kid but the dragon at the beginning would freak me the hell out. Absolutely loved the game now that I went through the whole thing.

Holy fuck I would KILL for a Demon's Crest successor made today. Something that keeps the exact gameplay of the original, but in a new third-person fully 3D world like Dark Souls.

I think part of the shit design was the cryptic locations to a lot of powerups. I had to rely on a walkthrough most of the time because some routes in the game are totally hidden.

>> No.2739720

>>2739702
Actually all the places are relatively easy to find. You just have to check every level again after obtaining new abilities.

>> No.2740550

It's menu is a little tedious, but you get used to it. Some of the levels can be pretty much circumvented by flying, but the sky enemies compensate in some places. Some of the items are hidden too well. Other than that it's pretty solid.
It's my favorite video game holy shit it just looks and sounds so beautiful
