I just recently got into old SNES games from watching JonTron and playing game dev tycoon. One of the games that sparked my attention from hearing about it was Chrono Trigger. After actually playing it I must say it is a masterpiece, this game does everything a game should do right.

Magus: Practically the best when it comes to a non-grinding initial run through of the game

Mid:
Robo (you have to use a bunch of speed tabs on him. his magic is too low to heal well)

Yes I have, I beat it and completed every sidequest except the Sun Stone one (got stuck at the fire roulette boss battle) and it is a fantastic game but to call it the best game ever is a really far stretch.

The DS version has a better UI (two screens) and better translation (Woolsey is fine but it was rushed). Music is essentially the same, graphics are very similar. Bonus dungeons are crap but can easily be ignored. Don't listen to people blinded by nostalgia.

CT was a solid 8/10 for it's time, and still holds up pretty well today. It pulled off what it set out to do.
It deserves most of the praise it gets.
There are other SNES games that are just as good, though. There's a goldmine of RPGs, in particular, a lot of which are only available to us in English as fan translations.
Just because Chrono Trigger is popular doesn't mean it's not as good.

Triple Techs are MP-efficient.

Spamming your most powerful spells individually will eat your MP away. Luminaire is 20MP a pop.

That being said, you can alleviate that problem with Gold studs. But Triple Techs are useful at certain points, although generally less useful then duals.
