It's a solid game, but I feel like it's not as rad as any other Castlevania game around that time. Bland colors, overpowered whip, predictable gameplay. Dracula X was just a poor man's (or foreigner's) version of Rondo of Blood, but it was still cooler than IV I thought. Way better music and levels, and overall style.

I'm not being an hyperbolic nerd that says this or that game sucks just because it isn't your favorite in the series, or misinformation such as that Dracula X is a "version" of Rondo of Blood, when they're 2 different games.

CV threads are low-tier, sadly. I love CV, but the CV fanbase is like the FF fanbase, "pick your favorite and shit on everyone else's favorite entry". IV also gets and extra flak for being popular.
CV threads are only civil when it's about the series' music only.

Great game, although the japanese version is slightly better. Best action-platformer you can get for (relatively) cheap on the SNES.

I actually beat Plok earlier this year.
I think it is excellent, but it is a game that is better emulated because its biggest defect is it has no save system, and is very very long for a platformer, while keeping a NES level of difficulty.
It is one of those games in which the defects are not gameplay related.
Also, you only get a continue every fifth level beaten without losing a life iirc.
