It's a relatively late model (meaning mid-to-late 80s) console TV. They stopped making them after that and just let people buy their own wooden entertainment centers to put them in. It will have nice sound out of its large speakers but it will most likely have composite input as its best input. That's going to be your deciding factor, so just ask the people that have it if it has a "video in" or just a "screw on" antenna / RF connector, in which case it probably wouldn't be worth the hassle to you.

If you are in love with the old school aesthetic of it, you can probably gut it and install a newer Trinitron into the cabinet but that's a project in and of itself. I like to do stuff like that but you might not.

Oh yeah.

Its a Magnavox "Heavy as Shit" model from the mid 80s. Its got okay picture, good sound and probably still comes with a factory warranty to break your spine if you try to move it by yourself.

Its an especially popular model for leaving behind in rental properties and in front of other peoples dumpsters because of its patented "Heavy as Shit" cathode ray. Other features include warping any table you might try to put it on, being impossible to fit through a standard sized doorway without removing the hinges and becoming utterly worthless when a small electrical part breaks and cannot be replaced without visiting a junkyard.

Hope I helped, free is a pretty good price but see if you cant do a little better. You can probably get a few bucks off whoever is giving that away because they sure as fuck dont want to move it.

You can literally drop that tv off at any best buy and they'll recycle it for free. They'll even send a few guys out to your car to get it for you. A lot of stores do this. I can tell just by looking at it that the only thing that's gonna hook up to it is an rf switch through the coaxial cable. That's not going to have any av component inputs or other stuff.

That's actually really cool if you're going for a retro aesthetic, which I have my doubts about seeing those green plastic drawers but I guess they are pretty similar to the drawers the first indie game store I worked at used in the late 90s. Late 90s doesn't match with late 80s that well though. Does it have one of those lazy susan bases that turns really easily? It looks like it might be one of those kind.
