Yes, and it's not even /vr/-related.

Yes, unless you are playing turn-based rpgs.

If it's about retro games then it IS /vr/ related you dumbass.

The Mega Man 2 port works pretty well.

Other than one or two things, it's pretty close to the original

>> No.2725174

>>2724830
Yeah, they're pretty much impossible for most things. Bean's Quest, SurvivalCraft, the Sonic ports, Carmageddon, those are all surprisingly playable with touch controls. RPGs can be annoying, but since you're not being rushed or anything, it works.

Super Mario Bros, Metal Slug, any fighting game, most things in general especially if they use more than one button, are pretty miserable to play. Not impossible, but not very fun.

At least there's PPSSPP.

Emulation is discussed all the time on /vr/.

Are there any Android emulators that have a non-fixed dpad? What I mean is, instead of a dpad on the screen you need to stick to, it just kinda puts a dpad under wherever your thumb is and otherwise stays invisible.

>> No.2725218

>>2725185
Yes, but I'm afraid I can't recall any by memory. I think they call it a dynamic dpad. Wherever you press your thumb becomes the center of the dpad. I found that sometimes they worked better, but most of the time it was annoying as fuck.

>>2725175
Why would you use an emulator?

You can get a PSone with the LCD screen for 60 bucks easily, then just mod it and play burned games.

What are you a dingus?

To all you retards: FACT ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >>>>>>>>>>>>> Touch screen devices are STILL in BETA state (even tho it's 2015). It sucks. It lags. It's inaccurate. It's....... Everything BAD. FUCK YOU. But there is one good thing - it will get better eventually!

Depends. You're sure as hell not going to be playing any platformers, but turn-based RPGs are safe.

>> No.2725513

They're not bad per say, just hard to work with, and ideal for turn based rpgs. Anything else like platformers are more difficult because you don't feel the actual buttons. They do sell controllers though for phones, or you can hook up a wiimote.

>> No.2725992

>>2725184

As of late, yes. And it's getting kinda boring at this point. There's an emulation general thread but people keep popping new threads all the time, I barely see actual retro games discussion anymore, it's just emulation, copypastas from /v/ and meta stuff.

>> No.2726796

YES. Touch controls are practically unusable for anything other than turn-based games.

A funny thing I've found with a tablet and the ng.emu/ngpc.emu - I can get the moves out in NG/NGPC fighters fine on a touchscreen, same with stuff like Power Quest and SF Alpha on a gameboy emu. I wouldn't prefer to play like this but sure, i've busted out some KOF R-2 just fine.

The less buttons a game uses the better, and I feel 4 is probably the limit - if shoulder buttons are rarely used then that's fine also.

>> No.2729452

>>2726796
I have beaten Castlevania for the NES like nine times with touch controls. The buttons vibrate the phone and you couldn't possibly have a faster input style. It's physically impossible for physical buttons to react like a touch screen.

It's a pain for some games but overall most complaints about it are due to people who are angered by change, something they aren't used to. Nobody who has any experience with touch screens complains to the extent that you see on these threads.
