I beat Oracle of Seasons but not Ages a long-ass time ago.

Restarting from Seasons and hopefully beating both this time. What does /vr/ think of these games?

>> No.2718747

Oracle of Seasons is probably my favorite gameboy color game. Still need to go back and play ages.

Personally, my favorite Zeldas. Link's Awakening has a better story/atmosphere, but the Oracles combined are better.

If you want to complete the maps it's good that you're starting from Seasons. Have fun and remember to use the passwords once you start getting them.

>> No.2718760

Played Ages. Wasn't a fan. Too many fetch quests and forced mini games, too much harp playing, very railroaded, and just not very memorable.

Played a bit of Seasons. It was a good deal better but I still lost interest at around the third dungeon.

>> No.2718781

I really like them, for the art style alone. I love the two worlds you have in both games. But it was tedious at times to time travel in Ages. I prefer the harder puzzles in Ages and that it has an optional item that can be won in this mini game later on. But the second world in Seasons is better, imo.

In the end Link's Awakening is probably better for it's story, charm and better designed overworld. The worlds in Oracles feel very gimmicky and not as natural as in LA.

>> No.2718791

I cleared both several times as a kid. I enjoyed seasons the most just because of the overall fucking with the world you can do. Even if it's not much, I was like 8. I probably logged similar hours on those games as oot/mm since it was portable.

I get that you're talking about obstacle progression and whatnot, but I simply cannot conceive of LA's overworld as "natural" when it's a PERFECTLY SQUARE island. It just seems so artificial taken as a whole.

How so? the gameplay was vastly improved, together they have way more dungeons and stuff to do, and now you can actually touch rocks and pots and crystals without having to endure the HUH? THIS LOOKS HEAVY etc bullshit. Only downside was story and maaaaybe music.

Music confirmed better.

I really enjoy them and I consider Seasons to be my favourite 2D Zelda game.

I still haven't beaten Ages because of Jabu Jabu's Belly

I think they're easily one of the best GBC titles I've played. The story was interesting, the gameplay was challenging, the items were always interesting to use, and then there's save transfer. I always liked that feature in games. if you could play and finish one game and have it carry over to the next was my ideal way to play. 10/10.

>> No.2719126

Each one is significantly better than LA on their own, combined they are such a magnificent gaming experience that anyone trying to defend Link's Awakening as the better experience is simply a fucking fool. I've played all three at least eight times each, LA is filled with annoying bullshit like hour long text blobs and the bunny stalfos bat room.
>Hurr durr there's an owl

No shit fuck face, I've played it more than you. It doesn't explain it properly if you've never done it before and don't know what a pols voice is or even what room the owl is referring to. It's literally a meme on par with the sonic cylinder.

The Oracles are literally the exact same game except without horseshit and three times as big with three times as many items, plus collectable rings that can make the game easier or harder, secret areas, three secret bosses, and minigames.

You're literally a fucking liar if you say LA is better. The oracles even use the same music plus more. You may like LA better, but that doesn't actually make it better, it's just what you prefer. Never in the history of video games have there been a piece of software so quantifiably better in an objective sense. You're not cool because you like LA better than OOT or Lttp or MM.

Yes I am mad, faggot, wanna fucking fight about it bitch?

But they ARE better. Better gameplay, way more content, way more variety for exploration and challenge (animals, rings, seasons/subrosia/timelines). There's no denying that they're better games.

i did the same thing anon, only beating seasons during my childhood
i bought both on virtual, beat seasons, then ages no regrets

Best BGM ever for a game boy game

>> No.2720439

Well, this thread has already turned into a shit fest.

anyway, I'll just say this. I don't prefer these games over ANY others. Not even Adventure of Link

but if I had to make a choice between the two;

Seasons > Ages

The only person turning it into a shitfest is you, because judging by your style you're clearly >>2719205.

Just justify or explain your opinions, if all you do instead is calling other losers and spouting memes you're the one shitposting. >>2720227

Well, you're the only two posters that have the same writing style and seemingly the same opinions. My point still stands: explain them, that's what this board is for. If you're not going to do so, it's pointless for you to engage in this discussion, unless you want to turn it into a shitfest.

Style of prose proves absolutely nothing.

Same opinions doesn't prove shit either.

Unless you're a mod and are going to ban me for not writing an in-depth analysis 6 paragraph diatribe, fuck off.

It was a shit fest when I got here and you sperging out over this presumptuous notion that

>> No.2720707

>>2720661
Not the guy you're quoting for me Oracles are much better than AlttP, no contest. The dungeons are better, the items are better, more varied and better implemented, the overworld is better, the music is better and more varied, just the rings by themselves make Oracles the better game(s) since you can have all sorts of challenges and gameplay tweaks. Even the story is better imo.
