>> No.2717259

but N64 has no games XD

>> No.2717263

What I'd like to hear justification for is actually keeping the cartridges in the box. You just damage the box a little bit more every time you open them. I keep my boxes in the closet.

>> No.2717268

>>2717263
I doubt this person plays those games.

>> No.2717271

Collections ruined the retro vidya hobby. Tons of people just stacking cartridges on their shelves like they're trying to complete a real life Pokedex. Thank God for flashcarts.

Justify what? The price? I really doubt that he's expecting to get $40k for it.

Why he wouldn't take the two years and piece it out is interesting though. Must need the cash fast.

>> No.2717280

40K/296 = $135.13 per game. Hooooooooly shit.

>> No.2717281

>US $40,000.00
Cool, that's only about 38k overpriced.

>> No.2717349

>>2717275
The price, actually having a complete boxed N64 collection, and actually wanting to buy a complete boxed N64 collection.

It's cool to see and all, but really, why do you need/want all N64 games in box? There's like ~30 max good games? Even so, who'd even pay half of that?

>> No.2717357

>>2717254

A few years back, there was a complete NA SNES only missing a hand full of boxes and manuals on ebay for half that amount. The SNES has more than double the number of games than the N64. Shit's not gonna sell.

>> No.2717364

If they were 296 complete boxed copies of mario party then yeah I could understand the 40k price.

A better alternative would be to sell each game by itself, or in lots. Who in the world would spend a years worth of salaries on n64 games?

But they don't make them anymore, they're rare, it's a steal at only $135.13 per game pak

>> No.2717612

Honestly, as a life long collector I've come to instantly hate new school collectors who go after complete sets for a particular console.

A lot of the time they'll trade stupidly from other consoles to get a rare they're pursuing for their console though. Like you'll get an equally or more valuable rare plus a ton of uncommons. I used to find those faggots constantly through eBay bit now those final value fees make it impractical.

Why wouldn't he put up "Auction" with a minimum price set at $40,000?

Fucking "Buy It Now", man. I always filter that option out of my eBay searches. It's 99.99999% a bunch of shit asking for way too high of a price.

Buy It Now is god's gift to ebay. When I want a game I don't want to dick around for a week waiting for it to end and just get out-sniped at the last second. Just let me buy my stuff and be done with it. There's plenty of good deals out there if you're patient.

While true, some games, boxed, really do fetch prices well above that just due to inflation, price gouging resellers and increased rarity...

On that note, someone should buy this just to dowse in gasoline and watch it all burn

>> No.2717753

>>2717640
Most people who have examined the library know there isn't a whole lot of good games for it. Like other anons said, is guess around 30 good games. The rest is mediocre shit that no one would care about since the start of the sixth generation.

Unfortunate truth is most of the good games of the fifth generation went to the PS1 since Nintendo stuck with cartridges.

someone else, can we get a list going of the good titles for the 64. i just recently picked one up and I can only think of a few games i'am interested in.

smash bros
starfox
paper mario
mario party
mario party 2
mario party 3
zelda Oot
zelda MM
mario 64
kirby 64

and i am done

Rare's stuff, whether you love them or hate them, they count as "good N64 games" since man enjoy them

DK64
Banjo Kazooie

Conker
Jet Force Gemini

Yeah, that's better for "in the wild" deals, but the time investment required before "striking gold" is ridiculous. In the end, if you don't have that kind of time, just buy it wherever/whatever isn't too ridiculous, or buy in bulk and cut a deal, then resell the stuff you don't want to keep. People need to remember to expect failure; the more you try, the "luckier" you get.

Can't justify it. The whole thing is only worth about 32k individually priced, and finding a buyer is going to be practically impossible since potential buyers are limited to collectors who likely already have a fair sized collection, or resellers who would pay at most a quarter of the going rate.

Also, half the value on that thing is in the top 40 games, and a full 2/3rds is basically "hey, it CIB, that puts it at more than 10$". Not to mention that amount of verification that needs to go in to that to be sure we're talking authentic boxes and not repros.

>> No.2718049

they may not be your thing, but the n64 had a lot of good racing games, wrestling games, and international superstar soccer on it were the best console soccer games.
stuff like Mario Tennis or Snowboard Kids were also very good.

>> No.2718110

>>2717819

5 Nintendo games
Wave Race
Pilotwings
Mario Tennis (Waluigi's birth and last time DK Jr was seen btw)
F Zero
1080 Snowboarding
(the 5 of them much better than Kirby 64)
Mario 64 + Wave Race were the best launch titles of any console, ever.

The 2 Snowboard Kids games (1 & 2) are great Mario Kart on Snow games.

the Rare games except Killer Instinct

Banjo Kazooie
Banjo Tooie
Conker
Diddy Kong racing
Perfect Dark
Golden Eye
Jet Force Gemini
Blast Corps

the 3 Treasure games
Mischief Makers
Sin and Punishment
Bangai-O

The 3 Star Wars games, Rogue Squadron, Battle of Naboo and Episode 1 Racer.

The 2 Goemon games made by Konami, Great Adventure and Mystical Ninja.

Harvest Moon
Oggre Battle
Body Harvest
Space Station Sillicon Valley
Rocket Robot on Wheels
Shadow Man

Rayman 2 is excellent, much better than on Playstation, but even better on Dreamcast

Some other games polarizing, flawed, or just 7.5/10 worth checking out if they are your thing.

Donkey Kong 64 made by Rare some find it very good, some find it a very bloated collectathon.
3D platformers like Glover, or Chameleon Twist 1 and 2
Castlevania Legacy of Darkness (dont confuse with Castlevania 64) is also worth checking out, since it is the closest thing that exists to a good 3d Castlevania game.
Konami also made an action rpg for the N64 called Hybrid Heaven, some like it some not.
the ports of Megaman Legends and Resident Evil 2 are acceptable.

The N64 has many first person shooters, the Turok games were very popular, Doom 64 is still liked by the Doom fanbase, it also has Quake, Duke Nukem and Hexen games. Forsaken is quite good.

Duke Nukem Zero Hour and Indiana Jones Infernal Machine are good Tomb Raider inspired games.

Operation Winback is a good game, but has a better version for PS2 made 3 years later.
It is both very influenced by MGS and very influential because every third person shooter since then has copied its cover system.
