I just ordered an NTSC US Model 1 Saturn, a 3D controller, an action replay and a PCB v3 modchip. Does this model support SCART output?

Is there anything special about burning Saturn ISOs to CDs?

Also feel free to recommend any games. I bought it with the intent to play the Panzer Dragoon series, Nights, Burning Rangers and the Sega Ages arcade classics.

If you need help burning. Also, keep in mind that the 3D controller doesn't work properly with the earlier games, so you'll have to use it on directiona pad mode. For instance, on Panzer Dragoon it works but releasing the stick resets the sights on center, making the game pretty much unplayable, but it works properly for the sequels.

All Saturns support SCART RGB, just make sure you get a NTSC cable. The PAL Saturns are wired differently.

Have a generic chart, too.

Is there any way to tell which is a SCART NTSC/PAL cable? I was thinking of buying it from here, but I wasn't sure which one it was. I contacted the store owner but he hasn't responded yet.

That's probably a NTSC one, but to be sure, i'd buy it from elsewhere. I bought mine from the retro_console_accessories guys in ebay and their cables are top tier.

>Does this model support SCART output?

Yes, but the pinout is different than with PAL models, and most third party cables use the PAL models pinout. You'll have to buy a third party cable that specifically states that it is compatible with NTSC models, and the quality is a toss up for those (the official Scart cables had very thick, nicely shielded cables, with separate extra shielding for the audio lines, and it had almost zero buzzing - unlike third party cables).

You'll need to region patch your images before burning. Yes, the AR can bypass the region, but over time it becomes a chore to go through its menu for every boot, plus you want to use a normal save cart instead for direct saving, and the AR can break pretty easily.

>Is there any way to tell which is a SCART NTSC/PAL cable?

Only with a multimeter. Since all NTSC compatible RGB Scart cables are third party, you are at the mercy of the supplier regarding both compatibility and quality.

>normal save cart
Do you mean buy an official/3rd party save cartridge? Any recommendations for 3rd party one? The official ones are quite expensive

Also approx how many game saves will the of onboard memory support?

Not a lot. I mostly play RPGs and I was lucky to fit 5 saves on it, maybe, before I started using the cart (and then the battery died anyway so I don't even use the internal anymore).

SCART is a connector which has two standard pinouts. Japanense and The rest of the world. Find out what the device you're connecting the Saturn to and use the corresponding cable. The cable doesn't care whether the signal is NTSC or PAL. I use what you would call a PAL cable with my NTSC console all the time. My TV is multi system non-japanese.
