>tfw you beat a level or boss as an adult that you couldn't as a kid

Any stories of this experience, /vr/? I recently beat Allegro Presto in the first Rayman.

I used to play all my games on easy mode, but now I can play on higher difficulties. And there are games I can actually understand because I can actually pay attention to dialogue and clues instead of endlessly flailing around. Flailing around sometimes worked, but I be damned if it didn't cause frustration.

I never found something unbeatable but I noticed that most of my skills now are way better than when I was a kid.

>Pick up Silent Bomber again after almost 15 years
>Remembering the days when I needed a lot of time to push through levels even after finishing the game multiple times
>Best time completion back then was about 9 hours with a lot of C
>Finished it in 1 hour and 44 minutes
>Lowest score was B in three missions
>mfw

Feels good man.

in pokemon I used to always just grind in the beginning so that my starter could easily beat the type he was weak against and just use my other pokemon as slaves to go out and lose while I healed/revived my starter.
nowadays I go for the more convential well rounded team route

>> No.2715310

In MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries campaign mode I got to a mission that was basically a room with 3 enemies in it. I could never beat all three, but when I was older I beat it on the first try.

This, my team used to be a Lv. 100 whatever starter I chose and 5 garbage Pokemon below Lv. 30 for HM and buffers while healing the starter, now my team is three or four pokemon at around the same levels.

I tried picking up Red again and blasting through the whole game as just Blastoise and HM slaves, I couldn't do it, it just got too boring

I still havent beat the original zelda. A few years ago I tried to beat it and my shield was eaten by a like like at the 8 dungeon. After that I quit. I used to watch my Dad beat LoZ back in the day but nnever beat it myself

Just beat the original Super Mario Bros last week for the first time. That one is harder than 2 (USA) and 3 in my opinion.

It was a nice accomplishment. I'm also pretty good at beating the first boss in Sonic 2 for Game Gear now, too.

Never did this as a kid, but I did it for fun in Blue and Diamond during high school. Dubbed it the Steamroll Method(OCDONUTSTEEL) and convinced all my friends to give it a try in different games. Then I felt like a total scrub when it dawned on me that that Blastoise in Blue was the first time I'd ever gotten up to lv100.

>> No.2718119

>>2718095
You need to anticipate the patterns of where the rings and bombs show up. Jumping as early as possible so you can land just as the bombs pass under you helps with getting control back right away too. You can also get multiple emeralds in a single act because rings are reset after you return from a bonus round. It should be noted that I did this as Sonic alone, without Tails, so that likely helped me a lot.

Me from 20 years ago would wreck me today in most games, even the ones that I'm still playing like Super Mario World.

Fuck off, you did not "die once" on toxic tower. And don't bother coming back with "i did so" because that's not realistic, the level isn't designed in a way that makes it possible.

I beat Ruby and Emerald Weapon for the first time yesterday. It was only my third-ever playthrough though, and the first time I actually put in the work to grind for AP. I didn't use any particular cheap stategy: spammed KOTR and for Emerald I got all lucky 7's. They were still both surprisingly tough.

Not a boss but when I played Goldeneye as a kid it took me weeks to get the cheats on Facility and Archive 00 Agent.

I got the game again recently and I got both of those within about half an hour.

Ah, reminded me. In RPGs, I had the patience to play them, but not to level up. Most times if I had the chance, I'd just run from battles or not bother leveling evenly at all. I can recount in both Red and (not retro) Pearl and M&L I just rushed to the final bosses, couldn't beat them, and just quit the games then and there. Finally smartened up and actually played the games and enjoyed them to the end.
