Was Squaresoft a better company before the merger?

>> No.2704910

You know the fucking answer to that.

Yes

>> No.2704919

Obviously. Has a merger ever improved a company? The Sammy merger killed Sega.

Yes, pretty well no contest there.

The only series that hasn't degraded much was Dragon Quest.

>> No.2704939

Yes, Enix too.

Enix was the one who got the short end of the stick though. Squeenix kept releasing their usualr JRPGs throughout the 6th gen, while Enix's tradition of publishing titles for smaller dev companies like Almanic ceased to be now that Square got control of everything.
The only thing that survived from Enix was Dragon Quest, and that's because Yuj Horii stablished Armor Project when the merger happened, to secure that he still got control over the DQ franchise and not Square.

I really miss old Enix, way more than old Squaresoft.

Not a Bravely Default fan, I see.

But yes, Squaresoft was better before the merger. Most people with talent left the company around the time the merger happened.

I think BD is a pile of garbage, and even if it wasn't it will never ever redeem the current Squeenix.

>Most people with talent left the company around the time the merger happened

Funny how this happens almost every time. Merger's are the cancer of business, the 90s/early naughts cartoon boom wouldn't have gone to shit if not for the Time Warner merger. Because of the mass exodus that usually follows merger's don't actually 'merge' anything, hence why the spirit of both Square and Enix are long gone.
