Not really that feasible.

Zandronum's Taunt button is hardcoded and simply plays the sound effect on the *taunt defined in SNDINFO, it doesn't really have anything to customize or any additional stuff to add on.
It could be done with the ZDoom "taunt button", which is a custominventory that's given to the player that executes the *taunt sound. This could A_SpawnItemEx a sprite above the player's head, but I probably still wouldn't do it. There's already enough that sits on top of the player's head. Plus, emoticons are lame.

>Also, what happened to GMOTA, it isn't dead is it?

No. I'm just unmotivated from real life shit and work being a bastard. Combined_Arms needs to be finished first as well.

It's more of my own incompetence and not Zandronum. At least with the HUD.

I keep seeing this, mod makers talking about making their mod compatible with Zandronum. What's so different in Zandronum that you need to change stuff around? Is it missing something Zdoom has, or what?

>> No.2702618

Zandronum is typically based on older versions of Zdoom, typically lacking newer features that make modder lives easier. They're making progress on catching up to the modern Zdoom codebase in recent test builds, but they'll always be a teensy bit behind due to the nature of getting everything working in a client/server environment.

>> No.2703714

I really like Strife, I just don't like in a few areas you get shot by random hitscanners and can't figure out where until you've lost a bunch of health (The north section of the borderlands is an example of this). That and the medikit system, thankfully medikits aren't that annoying once you get enough stamina implants to make surgery kits stupidly good. Besides those two niggly bits the game is quite enjoyable and has neat features like the "stealth" system, I wish it was more known.

Closest thing to a modern remake would be Strife: Veteran Edition, though I don't think that's what you meant.

>> No.2703719

My biggest problem with the game is how some weapons handled. For example:
-I could never get the rocket launcher to shoot the spiders up on the ceiling
-The mauler seemed to work at random.
-The knife/katar was a bit useless for the majority of the game
-I never found a good use for the Sigil. Yeah it was cool to use, but it drained your health, and it didn't really do that much more damage to enemies, as far as I could tell.

Hey /doom/ i could use some basic help here.

I followed your how-to guide to play some fucking DOOM and i just had some questions right off the bat (after spending 20 or so minutes tinkering with the settings and not finding an answer). i used Zdoom and the doomiwads to start playing if that helps.

1. how come i cant get any sound out of this game other than the music? when i click on "reset sounds" it says that something failed to load and its using "nosound"

2. how come when i die i respawn with all my gear? i looked all around the settings and i cant find out how to stop that from happening (as i like to start each level fresh with only the pistol)

3. when i use my mouse to move around, if i move the mouse forward, my player creeps forward a little, and same for backward. ive never had that happen when playing other doom versions and would like that to stop.

This is a feature of ZDoom where it loads your last autosave. You can disable autosaves and delete your existing ones to restore it. Otherwise, you can use "Doom Pistol Start Options" here: https://www.doomworld.com/vb/wads-mods/67715-zdoom-pistol-start-options/

You only have to drag the wad to the ZDoom icon if it's a pwad. iwads will run in the launcher if you have them in the same directory as ZDoom (or a directory you specify in your configuration file.)

But, to actually answer your question, just so you can know what to do when you want to open a pwad as an administrator, you can open an administrative command prompt (right click the Start button or bottom left corner and click "Command Prompt (Admin)"), use the "cd" command to navigate to the folder in question (for example, since your folder is on your desktop, you'd type "cd C:\Users\Anonymous\Desktop\ZDoom\") and run the executable, using the -file command to add the file you want to run. So if I wanted to run ZD with "mywad.wad", which I have in my Documents folder, I'd type this:

C:\Users\Anonymous\Dekstop> zdoom.exe -file C\Users\Anonymous\Documents\mywad.wad

I gotta say i'm digging this mod

it definitely feels like a horror game, the whole exploration and mystery aspect is also good. But it unfortunately also reminds me of those really old games that give little direction and you're left to navigate on your own.

It's like
>Here dipshit have this eternally night old timey apocalyptic world.
>fuck you you're on your own have fun figuring out where to go jackass.

But I do like the mod, kind of reminds me of Blood for quite obvious reasons but as an adventure FPS rather than just a straight up FPS.

You're all doing what you'd normally do, if you were trying to play together at seperate houses, but this time you just happen to be in the same room together. That way you can configure a server like normal through BestEver and then set-up a password through RCON so only your friends can join.

This is a preposterous argument, especially considering one of the main strengths about Doom is its graphical presentation and one of the important things about maps is if they look good as well as play good. Set it off a few times. It might be related to the bug with napalm barrels I fixed, but I don't really see how. In any case, while it did momentarily annihilate my framerate, I couldn't get it to crash. Could be a problem with your specific ZDoom build, wouldn't be the first time something random causes consistent crashes in a build.

>> No.2708703

It's because there's like a billion barrels in that room and either GZDoom or your computer isn't man enough to handle all those explosions. I can set them off in ZDoom, but it still locks up for a few seconds while the fireworks are happening. I can't even keep stable 60FPS on stock maps with nothing happening in GZDoom so I'm not even gonna try that, but it's probably the root of your problem.

Yeah, that's me.
No shame in it. It's my opinion, I'll stick by it.
It takes a special kind of autism to dig up a single post from over a month ago though.

>> No.2709332

not really. the brain is optimized for spotting patterns. if you make the same post twice in the same month it's likely to be noticed. then all one needs to do is spend 10 seconds on the archive search engine. hardly needs one with a "special mind"

>dig up

also it's pretty easy to spot dudes when they repeat the same opinions over and over
