Mad slowpoke, I know, but I just beat Chrono Trigger for the first time. It was a fantastic game and I was honestly longing for a great JRPG for a while now.

I think I got the best ending, did all the sidequests before going to Black Omen too. Now I need to see what SNES game I'm going to order next.

I might just do that. I'm interested in the bucket ending. It probably won't be the best end because none of the issues that the characters solve in the side quests could be solved this way[/spoiler but I'm still curious.

I'll see if I can find them on Ebay for a good price. As for Dragon Quest I don't know if I should grab any of the games for the SNES. Didn't the SNES games all get upgraded remakes/ports?

IV-VI got them on DS and mobile, more content and the like. It's also the only version that got official translations of V and VI, especially since VI was never actually finished in it's fan translation. They're pretty good remakes, everything's pretty faithful to the original (outside of VI changing the monster recruiting system to various slimes) unlike FF's treatment and mobile porting isn't too killing bad either which is rare for Square.

Some people aren't in love with the new accents in the localization though (I'm okay with this), and IV only has party chat localized in mobile for some reason. I-III got another port in mobile, but it's mostly the same thing as SNES except for hamfisted ye olde english from NES.

Best ending is arguably beating the game with just Chrono and Marle at the right time portal at the Faire at the very beggining on new game +. It is the Developers ending.

Nah. Just try and have some mega elixers and buff. Marle is not nearly as crappy with just two people to heal.

you can also get the developers ending by beating Lavos in the ocean palace. the shell has 30k HP and relentlessly attacks, but the inner forms are normal. I've done it, but it took grinding on the elevator and setting battle mode to wait during the shell fight.

SaGa post the GB games is kinda difficult to enjoy if you're not into unconventional JRPGs, I wouldn't have reccomended him to play those as much as I love the series.
