Alright, I'm done with this shit until Open RCT2 fixes pathfinding. I know my paths suck dick, but there also seems to be far higher guest generation too. Can't handle 5k guests with like 7 coasters.

I'm gonna post a load of pics of it because Giants are all 7mb+.

Here is pretty much the center of that part of the park. Far too many coasters in this general area forces the guests to all congregate here.

Coaster #2. The monorail used to be a short railroad track but nobody went on it until I replaced it with a monorail and used the cheat to set everybody's intensity to <15, they just ignored transport rides until then.

More unfinished scenery on these 2. The junior coaster is the only one I finished scenery on because I built it in another park and imported it but even then it looks unfinished with no fencing and the nasty uncut grass.

Hyper Twister, pic #1. I tried to make a better Raven Racer, first attempt. Gave up on the scenery and the park entirely at this point because of the guests. It has 300+ people queueing for it. Fuck this park. Ended up at around 11 excitement, 9 intensity.

Major issues.

Thanks a lot, man. I always thought it looked shit to be honest. My teachers always told me I was too modest.

It was a pain in the ass to make. I had to delete lots of segments and redo them to make them 1:1 which is why it gets wonky at times - I started to get sick of it and rushed it. I used Raven Racer as inspiration instead of a big ass coaster but it ended up being a mash up of the 2.

Also, first Flying Turns. This was interesting to make because they fly out of the track if they're too fast.

Question.

I'm playing the Ghost Town scenario on RCT2. To beat the scenario, you need 10 coasters at least 4,000 ft in length and with a minimum excitement of 7.

I built a dueling Soapbox Derby coaster with a length of 2,224/2,218 and 7.14 excitement.

Is this length ok for the scenario? It's technically long enough but I could see how it might not count. I hope I did not waste time and money.

Having not played 3, I'm not sure exactly what functionality youre thinking of, but basically anything that conforms to the tile system is possible. The hill tool could be made draggable with a fixed elevation to provide leveling functionality, for example. I'm hopeful for some ability to restrict the range of the hill tool so that it can be used together with discontinuous terrain without fucking up all the tweaking you've done. As it is now, once you start adjusting on a per tile basis, you cant use the mountain tool again.

Not exactly. They're just types of coasters, like steel, wood, etc. They still have different capabilities. Saying RCT2 has a lot of coasters is pure horseshit, since most of them are looping/corkscrew/twister coasters with different names and trains.

Sort of new to all this (though played RC since back in the day). What sort of map is best for RC2 to build a park on?

>> No.2691545

I guess it comes down to personal preference but I prefer flat parks that I can mold into anything I want.

The preset parks aren't very good for building parks, mostly due to the restrictions. The only 'sandbox' park that comes with the game (Create your own Six Flags) is tiny and doesn't contain any expansion content. I would say most people in this general use the Sandy Boxes park that is included in the /vr/ct pack, in the pastebin. Though, you may want to fuck around with it if you want more drink options since it only has Iced Tea stalls available.

My only concern is the amount of trees. There are too many trees in your park. Every square is covered and it looks a bit congested. Blank squares and gardens are necessary to even things out.

It looks fun. I'd ride it, I love going on those types of coasters. If you don't like the stats, you can increase the excitement of the ride by placing scenery within 2 tiles of any part of the ride. The ride time is quite long. I think what I'd change is towards the end, you've got the chains to pull it into station. I'd replace those with brakes and replace the unbanked turn near the end with a banked one. Also, why do you have so many handymen? lol

So I made this a while ago, but never got around to posting it. This is my attempt at a recreation of Arrow's Launched Loop model, though with shorter straight sections. I actually went to a small traveling carnival for the first time in about 15 years, here in the North West UK this Thursday. Was good to try some of the rides from my childhood (though I probably won't go again for another 15 years, everything was "spin the rider in circles ride version #2639", the nausea is still wearing off.)

Best two were easily pic related and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fIm_pAPaX0

Couldn't find a video of the exact one in the pic but the link is probably the exact same Waltzers I went on. The Superbob felt a bit unstable like they need to hammer out the bumps from the track or something and I regret everything about going on meteor which was a round-up type ride.

Still though, a good time was had and I would recommend the Waltzers to anybody whose never been on them.

The orange one was really nicely done - lift hill was almost entirely hidden, the track is interesting, hugs the pillars and there's really no bland segments that feel like they'd need to be chopped off: everything fits really really well.
The blue coaster looks like it was added on for the sake of having another coaster in the space and for the most part is laid on top of the orange one with very little interaction between the two. The lift hill is exposed and has an ugly turn in it, the first drop disappointing and the straight run back to the station is way too long. Now that I look at it more closely, the drop by the interaction between the loop is really mangled.

You really nailed everything with the first post: a nice themed area for one ride that's closed in. If you expanded the enclosure a little and added some ground level variety a train could probably snake through there and look appealing, but even without it's fantastic. Any more rides winds up looking like a clusterfuck, and while you've still got plenty of room for scenery, what you've got works well enough.

I'd recommend demolishing the blue coaster + train and getting some good scenery practice in. A great place to start would be the block breaks section right at the end of the ride: the track doesn't have any supports for a while there and could benefit from some scenery.

You really, REALLY nailed it with that first screenshot.

I continued my park and followed >>2704321 and >>2704331 advices. I put the water below land level and put some scenery on the tunnel underwater. I also created "Neptune" to go with "Poseidon" and themed it a little. When it comes to ancient greece/rome I find it very hard to theme, moreso with sandybox scenery limitation.

Speaking of wich, is there a way for me to unlock all scenery and all types of shops and all types of cars for every coaster in the sandybox
scenario ?

>> No.2705734

>>2705724
I don't think there's currently a way to unlock the scenery limit but you can open the map in the scenario editor and remove the scenery types you won't use and add the ones you will.

That's what I did because fuck having only Iced Tea stalls.

Went to six flags for the first time in years today. Started with Medusa, the B&M floorless. Having missed it for years, it started off gloriously, but apparently my nausea tolerance has fallen off as I became mildly nauseous part way through. Seemed to have a steady lingerance too as I kept feeling it through a Zierer just after and on the fucking swinging ship an hour later. I stayed the fuck away from the two Vekoma coasters as I know for sure those would have ruined me.

Is nausea tolerance trainable? I hope so.

if you want to aim for something realistic, most Arrow loopers are pretty simple, following a loop + turnaround + double corkscrew, usually in that order. For simply improving the ratings of your coaster:
>No turns at the bottom of large hills (except on giga/hypercoasters or rare instances of 45 degree turns)
>Keep trains slow through inversions, about 30-40 km/h for corkscrews and 55-65km/h for loops. All it takes in a 10 unit drops to go through a loop, going faster just makes it more intense
>Only have 1 lift hill, curves and flat areas breaking up the main lift are acceptable on terrain coasters, but otherwise needing a second lift will lower excitement and look stupid
>keep the bottom of hills smooth. Either use a flat-to-steep piece (you can get them on corkscrew coasters by enabling "select rides by track type" in open rct), or go from flat to 1-2x shallow, then to steep. Quickly pulling up or down at a high speed creates a spike in vertical g's

note that corkscrew trains are programmed to be more intense than whatever the baseline is (I think the looping coaster trains have no bonuses or nerfs), so you'll never really get amazing ratings unless you use every trick available, which usually makes it look like crap

Lame. Making it closer together will make it look much better and increase stats. Why does that helix have to be way out there in the middle of nowhere? Bring the helix closer to the loop, bring the sea serpent closer to the station, and add a hill or two in between them

>> No.2707683

>>2707670
Corkscrews don't have flat-to-steeps. Really, though, the ride is too big. It's too sparse. The first drop should be a bit bigger - 1 or 2 steep drops. The corner after the loop is too fast too soon. The straight part leading in to the helices is kind of boring. If you were to remove that part and put the half loop-corckscrew inversions there instead, it'd look better, imo.

I think if you were to modify the landscape to be all hilly and shit, it wouldn't look as bad. Personally, though, I fucking hate building corkscrew coasters because they always seem really slow looking.

>>2707676
>The art style still bugs me a bit. Maybe it'll grow on me with time.
Agreed. I get that it's trying to be very reminiscent of the original rollercoaster tycoon and its isometric view which is kind of part of the problem I think. It's possible that the visual style may change drastically since it's still in early alpha though I highly doubt it will

>> No.2707743

It's an issue with intensity. Didn't want said intensity to be too high. But I'll bring the helix closer.
>>2707683
Would you believe I did have two half loop to corkscrews on that straight part. Unfortunately, it seemed to crank up intensity and the Gs.

As for landscaping, this was first made in that Emerald Spires custom map, hence why it's called that.
