Working Designs thread? What titles do you think about when you hear this company. Lunar 1, Lunar 2 and Dragonforce were beloved in my house.

Thank you anon for solving a mystery anon! Despite never playing this game the image of that wizard has been in my head forever and I can never remember where he was from. Must have seen him in an old EGM ad.

inb4 bitching about Victor Ireland personally and his early 90s pop-culture insertions.

I'm of two minds.
They brought over great games, certainly some of my favorites of the era. But the translations and worse yet gameplay changes they made really were pretty horrible in most cases.

I'm glad they existed when they did, but I'm more glad that they're gone now.

DUDE WHEATIES LMAO

>>2684275
I really am surprised no one has made a serious attempt of fan-translating the original Japanese versions of what WD brought over, if only for analysis/curiousity.

I mean fuck, at least Vanguard Bandits.

Wheaties and Bill Clinton are just the things I wanted to be reminded of in my fantasy RPG! Strangely there are actually people who like that stuff, it's weird.

At least aside from the jokes it wasn't all bad. If I was any good at programming I'd just go in an remove those. It's better than the awful all around Ubi Soft translation of the GBA port. And he hired mostly friends and inexperienced people as voice actors which sucked, but that was typical for the day. At least Ghaleon was good...

Gaijinworks is Working Designs without the poop jokes and pop-culture references.

Do I need to play Silver Star before Eternal Blue? I know there's some stuff to tie them together, but how important is it to understand the story?

Do they still make gameplay changes? The only one I ever saw that was actually in the right was Alundra's boss changes.

You don't need to, but it's highly recommended.

It'll help, but it's not really necessary - in much the same way that playing the first two phantasy star games makes everything in PSIV make more sense, but they're not necessary for the plot.

You seem to be confused, you posted two Game Arts games and one SEGA game. Quit giving credit to a shitty publisher like an idiot would.

Working Designed changed the games they brought over so much that specifying them like this makes sense. The thread isn't about the core games, it's about what Vic and friends did to them.

Thanks. I started playing Eternal Blue a few days ago thinking it was the first in the series, then I found out Silver Star came before it. Normally I'd play them in order, but I'm kind of already engrossed in EB.

Id say stop. I won't spoil it, but there's a part in Lunar 2 that will hit you a million times harder if you play part 1 first.
