Anyone else on /vr/ still play very very retro RPGs, like from the Ultima and Wizardry era? I was actually born in the mid-eighties, so I didn't grow up with most of these titles. I nonetheless got into them when I picked up some of the compilations released in the late '90s and early 2000, like the D&D Gold Box compilations.

I do 10-conduct games sometimes still in NetHack. I don't respect any of the 11-conduct ascensions recorded on nao.

Old RPGs weren't made for IBM/DOS, they were made for the Apple II and then ported to other platforms. University mainframes had a RPG culture of their own.

Wasteland is kind of cool just because of the futuristic setting and not being the usual generic boring Tolkien shit.

I'm an RPG hipster (yes we exist!) and specialize in games that make mere mortals recoil in fear.

C64 version is best; unfortunately this one's not on the Amiga.

I found hard disk install version here:
http://dungeony.rpghry.cz/fate/index.html

It works for me, after unzipping fatehdok.zip to my Workbench 1.3 virtual HD (I installed the OS in UAE by booting from the WB13 install disk).

Only problem is the Amiga screen doesn't fit entirely on my 640x480 UAE screen, and it sticks out to the right side a bit. Maybe I need to adjust the resolution somehow, but no other games I tried needed this.

Stupid LCD screen doesn't have vertical/horizontal adjustment knobs like on CRT. Please, I want off this ride and just go back to 1990 when they still made real computers...

Thanks so much guys.

Despite its many, many, many faults, this board is sometimes pretty decent.
