Everytime I play this game I:

>make a completely broken character
>quickly trivialize all the challenge in the game with knowledge of spellmaking and enchanting after slamming through the mage's guild advancement by doing the night watch quest over and over (also the fastest way of making money)
>start actually playing the main quest and doing other quests and exploring dungeons and stuff
>within a day grow so frustrated with the semi-random gigantic byzantine labyrinths and their constantly recycled cells that make navigation improbable that I just skip all of them with console commands
>become the wrong kind of lycanthrope by accident
>quit before ever finishing the game

Play it like you're having an XCOM session. If your character dies, roll a new one.

Daggerfall is fucking great.
I love rolling an argonian and go on a graveyard tour since all graveyards have a mausoleum which is basically just a tiny-ass dungeon full of loot, which is a wonderful way to get yourself some cash before the game proper.

>> No.2673745

We should have some kind of collaborative save file. Someone plays the character for a day, then puts the save up for download, leaving another person to play, and repeat.

Though I guess we'd have to make sure everyone has the exact same installation.

Can't speak for Morrowind, but unmodded Oblivion is pretty bland overall.

Modded Oblivion makes it so you can add in interesting character builds, intuitive leveling, better enemy scaling (or lack thereof, so bandits won't appear with Daedric gear or stuff), companion NPCs that follow you around, etc.

You can make Oblivion into one of the best TES experiences out there with the right mods. I had a blast playing some sorta kung-fu wizard-monk compared to my first playthrough as a generic almost-paladin.

Like the other guy said. This game is pure RPing. The options you choose, and the class you make even have an effect on your back story. Not to mention all the clothes and houses you can buy, and the different environments and climates you can live in.

If you end up getting tired of huge dungeons, you can try living in a smaller region. The average size and the amount of dungeons in a region is relative to it's landmass.

Crit weakness to disease, paralysis, and poison are the three biggest. You can add damage to sunlight, holy, and "darkness powered magery" since they bring down the dagger a lot too. And I think "unable to regen magika" lowers the dagger more than critical weaknesses.

One of the comfiest moments in gaming for me, I think is when I travel somewhere in Daggerfall and arrive in the evening with snow or rain falling and I go to an inn and this plays:

I really want to get into this game. Just made a character and finished the first dungeon, dying a thousand times and using a walk through. Controls seem horrific. Slow as fuck turn, forced(?) mouse control in battle, positioning is tricky af, walk speed slower than a snail...

Change your controls.
>walk speed slower than a snail
SPD is super important in this game. It's not a dump stat like in Morrowind and Oblivion. It actually affects attack speed, and how fast enemies can attack you. If you have low SPD, you better be a damn good mage.
