sonic 3d blast to me is ironically enjoyable. the best thing about the game is the soundtrack.
Virtual On is good, but I can't remember if it was released in the US also.

would you guys say saturn is the most vaporwave console i thing it is because it ignores the standard phenotype established by sony's consumerism and tries to be pure

>> No.2658268

>>2658260
nah the nintendo 32x is the most pure like bonowave (my actual fav genre) because when miyamoto made mario he specifcally said he wanted him in 3D solely so kids could be inspired to make videogames like he was inspried back in the day to make games via the ghosts of his local bento shrine (customary religious place in Japan) and he said one of the ghosts there (Habanero Matsuyama) explained mario to him in great detail so that he could envision a new era for the children across the globe

Unfortunately subway had mario toys and Jared Foggles.....

I still don't know what vaporware is, I thought it was a name for stuff teenagers do these days, that involves slowing down old songs or something like that and that some person who worked with Lady Gaga started doing it or something like that.
But whatever it is, no, Saturn is not vaporware.
Although I still try to figure out why these teenagers insist on using japanese characters to write their names and why do they use japanese Sega Saturn labels on their online pictures, if they never played with the Sega Saturn.

Sonic R is legit fun. Graphics are actually pretty nice for the machine, especially the transparency effect it does for the draw distance.
it's also got nicer lighting on the Saturn than on PC/Gems, but doesn't have weather, and the draw distance in two-player approaches unplayable (in single-player, it's fine)

the handling model is dumb until you realize you don't play it like SA1, you play it like Sonic is a car that can jump and platform
pick Knuckles if Sonic seems uncontrollable

The music grows on you.
Soon, you too will be LIVING IN THE CITYYYYYYYYYY (you know you gotta surviiiiiiiive) even if you hate it at first.

Only real issue is that it's only got 5 tracks. But they're brilliant.
fuck Regal Ruin and it's song though

oh and play Bulk Slash but it's kind of expensive

Vaporwave is an art/music movement that's highly appropriative, and which revolves around the remixing or appropriation of dominant images of pop culture and digital culture of the 80's and 90's.

My own personal view of it is that it is a result of the rapid pace of cultural change and commodification of culture concurrent with the emergence of the digital age, which resulted in the preservation of things that were meant to be quickly consumed and forgotten.

It's kind of like archaeology of the early digital age, digging through the trash heap of the last few decades and creating junk art out of it. While people in their 30's and 40's look back on things from that time with a very personal emotional attachment born of experience, people in their teens and early 20's only experienced the time incidentally, during their very formative years. Since they weren't necessarily primary consumers of these things but were still exposed to them, they have a different kind of appreciation for artifacts from that era than the people who were bigger drivers of the culture at the time.

This. It's a pretty good game once you figure out the controls. Bulk Slash is great too obviously.
