I liked Mongols.

Also, trolling Teuton babies with Turks was fun.

Saracens best civ, but closely followed by Byzantines, Spanish, Indians and Teutons.

Huns and Mayans are shit.

>>2653338
>mfw Persians and Franks will mass knights against a Saracen
You people are seriously stupid

>> No.2655431

>>2655428
who said I do that against Saracens? Not like any of my friends plays them.

>> No.2655457

That happens to me, usually.

I also think that Saracens, Koreans (except on Michi, they are banned on Michi), and Chinese are underpplayed and underrated civilizations.

I find strange that a main civilization, starred on the Age of Kings campaign gets so few spotlight on this community.

Cmon, have some morale.
It doesnt really matter that much which civ you play, if you can play correctly.

Will do add you, got to undust my voobly account tho.

>see you next week on the next aoe thread
The last AoE thread was a month ago, if I recall well.
But pretty much I will jump in again as the attentionwhore I am.

>Send a massive Paladin charge against a combination of chinese chu-no-kus

Yeah this is why I'm sticking with civs that has Siege Onagers and Bombard Cannons

Thank you based Teutons, Saracens and Koreans.

>> No.2659452

Bowmen aren't especially broken, they are just fucking annoying, that's what makes them fun.
Same with the long-range/mounted priests but I forgot who gets those

>> No.2659462

>>2659452
Spanish Missionaries
They have shorter range than compared to the regular monk, but they are fast and stronk

Teuton Monks has extra range, making them extra effective

comb. qith what? siege onager you meant?

This game is too damn slow. Starcraft Brood War is better in every respect. Still, AOE1 introduced me to RTS gaming so it will always have a special place in my heart.

>> No.2661714

aoe's ages are part of the strategy, you're not suposed to play blackforest map for 20 minutes building your doll house up to imperial barbie age you autist!

if you have never tried, aoe2 conquerors, has a handful of automation that was boring on aoe1 and aok, so its 4 resources arent a drag to micro

jonestly if you say "we go to feudal (2º) age in 9 minutes and then start battling", yeah it sounds retarded, specially with 1º age soldiers being only slightly better than villagers and a failed attack is damaning to the attacker, but you're actually batling who s the best explorer, broodwars isnt too far behind as every resource-based RTS has a warming up time.

>> No.2661724

>>2661107

aoe2 + conquerors + userpatch (currently 1.4)

you have a lot of small automations on the villagers and in training multiuple units from several buildings

you're constantly busy in the first 9 minutes exploring with sheeps, luring 2 boars, placing 8 buildings and locating all the position for all of these and the deers, plus your's and the enemy's gold and trees

but ill grant you that while its competitive, its not the same as directly interacting with the other players.

AOK was released already with 3 starting resources levels, which is something variable in many RTS and only really fixed for competitions, but ensemble just had to attach a "low (standard)" in there so the whole community etched that option in their brains, instead of leaving simply low/mid/high

ever so rarely i managed to convince non-friends to try playign with medium or high starting resources

Heck! conquerors even introduced the turbo-collecting-mode, which doesnt change battles and tactics, just speeds up resource extraction

but you'll be hard pressed to find others trying to play those options

I would play as the Vikings and my strategy was to build a large wall and establish the border to my empire and have a good amount of watch towers so my borders were secure and my civilization was safe before amassing an army and fucking their shit up. Also, as my army would advance to any enemy city, I'd build a town center and a castle on the outskirts of that city, so I could spawn more units without having to travel so far again.
