No but Infernal Machine was a tad meh compared to Last Crusade PnC and Fate of Atlantis. Some locations were good, some others were bland, and some parts of the game felt like a chore. The lack of music also didn't help.

Don't even get me started on the James and Mike video though, they don't have an excuse.

>> No.2652113

>>2651265
Me too. I've played it many times since although I've never finished it. Once I finish Fate of Atlantis I'm finally going to start and complete Infernal Machine.

Favourite levels are Babylon and Shambala Sanctuary. The latter is one of my favourite levels of any game, period. All the perfect ingredients: snow level, mountain monastery, mysterious interior, hearing the wind whistling.

>> No.2652154

>>2651998
>The lack of music also didn't help.
It helped. Everything ended up feeling atmospheric when all you could hear was the sound of the wind, the waves on the shore, the wolves howling. It either made you immersed in the environments or created tension.

There's music during the cinematics and incidental events. You're playing as INDIANA JONES. You have a whip that makes cracking noises.

If that's not holding your interest, you really shouldn't be playing an Indiana Jones game.

People can dislike the game if they're actually played the damn thing and have some basic grasp of how videogames work.

The N64 version augmented the tank controls with full 3D movement. Like, if you press the stick gently left and right, Indy turns tank-control-style, but if you push the stick further, he walks in that direction like a proper N64 game.

I actually never played Infernal Machine, which is strange because I was and still am a huge Indy fan. Fate of Atlantis was one of my favorite games growing up. I saw this pop up a long time ago, and figure I'll paste it because why not? Not sure if it's still accurate.

---INFERNAL MACHINE N64 EMULATION GUIDE---

M64py (GUI version of Mupen64plus)
http://m64py.sourceforge.net/

Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine PAL rom (Avoid NTSC version of game at all costs.)
https://www.mediafire.com/?3nah0cgj064dd72
http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=1761.0

Configure the emulator as follows-

***EMULATOR***
Pure Interpreter\Cached Interpreter\Dynamic Recompiler-
These affect the stability\speed of Infernal Machine significantly. Pure Interpreter is slowest, DynaRec is fastest, but has graphics corruption issues. Cached Interpreter is usually a better choice than Interpreter. If the game crashes suddenly at certain points, such as during level intros, Cached Interpreter will usually fix it. It is possible to change modes while playing by quicksaving, changing the setting, then loading your save. Alternatively, just make use of the game's level select function.

***PLUGINS***
Video-
mupen64plus-video-z64.dll

RSP-
mupen64plus-rsp-cx4d (choose SSSE3 or SSE2 version if your CPU supports that.)

**Video Settings*
Enabling Asynch & Threaded *may* give a slight performance boost in some cases by multithreading the video plugin, but use with caution.

**Input Settings*
If playing with a keyboard, try this control scheme. http://tinypic.com/r/2jab28o/8 It's extremely versatile.

Misc-
To unlock all levels, enter the code FORGEOFF in the game's cheat menu.
Quicksave often. (F6 save\F9 load Change slot with number keys.)

This modded version of PJ64 runs Rogue Squadron, Battle for Naboo, Indiana Jones, Stunt Racer, and World Driver Championship. Unfortunately, the screen wobbles slightly due to an interlacing bug.

Make sure you read the readme carefully.

Hopefully PJ64 will be able to play Indiana Jones with zero issues in the near future.

He has, pretty much, but he's only been in the videos recently, and you can tell he's trying to fit in, like he's constantly agreeing with the others to appear cool. Even Mike who was there from day one doing the jason and bugs bunny bits in the AVGN episodes was very awkward in his first videos, trying too hard to fit in by just swearing his balls off and being an annoying twat. He's a lot more chill and natural these days. Except in that video maybe. Now Bootsy.... Bootsy's the coolest cat around.
