I honestly think it's the one of the best RPGs on the NES, but it only seems known for it's silly American box art.

You really should give it a try, it's fun if a little repetitive every now and then.

Solid 2D fighter on the Gameboy. Feels much better than the PS1 or PC games by the same name.

The whole thing is a more unique JRPG, which is why I love it. You don't have a traditional party: you summon various creatures or warriors to fight with you, though they're only around for a certain amount of turns. Instead of spells of your own, you have special items like lasso to parylse enemies. There's also level grinding. You still can grind money for weapons, but you (and your summons) get stronger by getting getting a heart piece type item at the end of dungeons (including bonus ones) and getting more summons.

The story isn't normal for the time either. Instead it's more of a into another word sort of young fiction fair, and at times it feels a bit like a fever dream. And honestly I think drowned to death in the intro.[/spolier]

You sadly still get a typical NES level of constant random encounters, though. I think that's the weakness of the game since the random encounters are just a nuisance now that grinding is gone.

It was actually a "best seller" for a short time period when the GameBoy first came out, so I wouldn't doubt there being a lot of used carts out there. I played it lots as a kid. It's an addictive puzzle/maze game. I'm surprised Acclaim hasn't brought this franchise back in any form at all.

Head Buster on the Sega Game Gear

It is a strategy RPG where you get to customize a team of death machines and fight others in a tournament. Japanese only but it has a translation patch.

Now, that's just unfair. Those are games on systems that nobody remembers. The next thing you gonna do is post Japan exclusives and wonder why nobody played it.

You just pissed off all of Brazil saying that about the Master System.
