What are your favorite Saturn videogames, /vr/?

Do you think it's SEGA's best console of all time?

Personally I think the genesis and dreamcast outdo it.

But to just ignore the saturn would be a huge mistake as well.

Probably. But it's pretty close between it and the Mega Drive and Dreamcast.

Favorite games:

Virtua Fighter 2 (Incredible depth, best 3D fighter of its time)
Panzer Dragoon Saga (One of the greatest adventure games I've ever played, loved the world and the characters and story really stayed with me)
Panzer Dragoon/Zwei (Obviously great too)
NiGHTS (Utterly unique and bizzare yet simple and arcadey at the same time)
Batsugun (My favorite shmup of all time)
Guardian Heroes (Amazing co-op game)
Virtual On (INCREDIBLE with the twin sticks)
SEGA Rally (Possibly my favorite handling racer ever. It's a joy to powerslide)
Sonic R ("But it controls bad!" No, you just need to figure out how to control it properly. A blast to play when you've figured it out)
SEGA Ages (Arcade perfect Out Run, Space Harrier, After Burner II, Power Drift, Fantasy Zone etc)
Street Fighter Zero 3 (Still my favorite SF to this day)
X-Men vs. Street Fighter (The best Marvel crossover on any system IMO)
Gradius/Salamander Deluxe Pack (Arcade perfect versions of various Konami classics)
Vampire Savior
Sengoku Blade
Radiant Silvergun
Silhouette Mirage

Loads more

GOD DAMN what a system

This game was too spooky.

What is the preferred method of playing ROMs on the original hardware? Any recommendations for someone soon to own the system for the first time?

Easy mode: swap trick (will need at least 1 authentic Saturn disc to do it)
Hard mode: modchip (will save your Saturn's laser and make it live longer)

SD Loader.

>swap trick damages laser

lol no.

The swap trick only damages anything if you use ham hands and don't know how to hold a fucking CD, and slam the discs onto the tray like a madman. And even that only ends up pushing the tray down, and the laser eventually will not read anything because the entire disc will be too far below what it can see.

No, it won't damage the motor either (you'd need to hold the disc down for minutes for that), the only reason the motors won't spin up is because the laser can't see the disc. If the laser can't see the disc, the drive won't spin up.

>SD Loader

Isn't this thing not actually for sale? I know the Dreamcast has one but last I checked the creator was swamped and couldn't send out any new ones.

Initial D (Great drifting game)
Lupin III: The Sage of Pyramid (Tomb Raider-like)
Radiant Silvergun (Predecessor to Ikaruga)
Sonic R (Five tracks but it's a fun challenge)
Street Fighter Zero 3 (Arcade perfect)
Virtua Cop 1 & 2 (Fun rails shooter even with controller)
Virtua Fighter 2 (Hard as fuck)
