Remember the superior sequel? I sure don't. I didn't get a chance to play it until recently, but I did indeed enjoy it more than the original.

I don't think the original had unlockable guns, did it?

I liked the new weapons quite a bit, but getting some of the extra characters was kind of a pain in the ass.

>> No.2609221

Underrated game, I don't think it ever realized its full potential since so few people played it. I heard there was a PS2 sequel.

>> No.2609550

Fun game with friends, but single-player left some things wanting. Just getting the 2nd endings was such a pain in the ass.

Besides, how in the hell were people supposed to know they need to flee the 3rd battle and find the well and then cripple their opponent and jump down the well, then fight all the way to the end, knowing that they needed to not only maintain the code of Bushido, but not take a single hit?

Seriously, what the shit Square?

Bushido Blade 1 is one of those games I'm pull out for a bash with friends once every year or so. Always a good time
Never played 2. How does it differ from 1, mechanics-wise?

Only played BB2, but it's a load of fun. Thrown weapons are really cheap though.

That was one of those instances that gaming rags were gold. There was a two/three page layout that detailed who was best with what weapon(now THAT was a bitch!), how to defeat the bosses, the code, AND how to get Katze for duel mode(>>2609256 and >>2609150, that was the only 'unlockable gun' you guys might be thinking of).

It was also thanks to that guide that I knew you could actually go straight to the well from the FIRST fight(after crippling the guy, as you say).

Didn't care for the sequel when I came across some DBZ teleportation shit, though...wish I could give it another shot.

The projecting is strong with this one.

Bushido Blade 2 is my all time favorite fighting game. I pulled it out with one of my friends not too long ago and we blew an evening with it, he said it was the most fun he'd ever had with a playstation game, bar none.

I was always interested in the original but I never got around to picking it up. Doesn't it have more of a traditional adventure/campaign mode than the fighting game structure of the second one?

Anyway, my all time favorite part of this game is how it gives you one chance to earn new characters by beating a single level with them. Those were always the most tense fights, and of course it helped that the game itself is already really tense with the 1 hit kills. I have so many memorable near-misses and victories in that game. It really sucks that the gameplay never really caught on with mainstream audiences.

Game has aged like utter shit.

Poly graphics look terrible. Slow and boring combat. So sad that so many games from this era simple don't hold up.

Instead of a block button, high attack, and mid attack, there is high attack, mid attack, and low attack. You block by matching you opponents attack, so if your opponent is attacking low then you press the low attack button to block. It's pretty cool I think.

Also you can do that extra stance with sheathed katanas, pretty badass.

The title of the first post gives it away:
>Remember this gem?

The "great game...or greatest game..." and "suck on this" are thrown in there to make it look like genuine nostalgia flaring up. It's not famous enough to fuel opinionated arguments and circlejerking like FFVII or something, but it's well-known enough in enough circles to the point that it's already been discussed to death and really has nothing more to be said about it.

Someone just bringing it out of the blue in the manner as OP did indicates someone who just barely found out about the game and wants to read others' comments so as to feel special by proxy. If they really liked the game, why not say what they liked about it or how it made them feel? Why not share their memories? It's a classic youngfag-poser ploy to get attention as a distraction from the butthurt of not being born yet when the game was first released.

So me and a friend had a bash at it tonight. It seemed much more polished that BB1, but we did miss some of the features that didn't make it in the sequel. Specifically, you can't go prone on command, and you can't attack while prone. And legs can't be taken out, which is kind of lame.
Having only one button for switching between stances isn't any good either.
Weapons were in short supply, too.

Or in the rare cases where you don't win instantly:

>throw weapon to stunlock
>use overhead attack to win

There's also:

>use gun to win

I have performed probably hundreds of <1 sec wins.

I love these two games. They were very popular party games among my friends and I was disappointed to discover they are generally poorly regarded online. So I am happy to see this thread.

It's a shame they never continued but I think a lot of people didn't get the appeal of that style of play.

I'd honestly love to see a reboot on new gen consoles. Fuck lifebars, a death strike is a death strike
