My family immigrated to Canada when I was 1, so I grew up with English. As an adult, I could never imagine learning the language to the degree I know now if I had started learning in my teens or older. There are just so many unwritten rules and exceptions you unconsciously pick up on, especially in casual conversation. It really is retarded.
