So /vr/ seems to be in a good mood right now, I thoughr I might ask: What are the best emulators for each system?

Just personal preferences, if there's more than one, just mention it, no need to shitstorm.

>> No.2579467

I'm currently using:

NES: FCEX, but anything will work, really... plus I mostly use it for Castlevania...

SNES: ZSNES. Snes9x seems to be mostly the same.

Sega consoles: Fusion for it's multi-system. Still looking for a good Saturn/Dreamcast emulator though.

N64: Project64 1.6 version
PS1: ePSXe, trying to get plugins to work.
PS2: PCSX2, no question
PSP: PPSSPP
GBA: VirtualBoyAdvance
NDS: Not using one since I actually have DS, but if was to looking to play some games on it if they don't run like shit.
Gamecube/Wii: Trying to get Dolphin to work Xenoblade chronicles and the Zelda games.

Mostly Saturn but it seems we are stuck with SSF for now

Any words on that 3DS emulator?

I might go back to MAME if someone makes a fork where ROM playability is more important than being 100% autistic.

depends on what OS I'm using, but...

>PS1

-linux
PCSX. ePSXe's plugins are hard as fuck to configure for Linux.

-windows
ePSXe. Overall, my use of PCSX on Linux is a compromise -- I find ePSXe superior.

-android
ePSXe. FPse or whatever crashes constantly on my devices, so it can fuck itself.
Technically, ePSXe is payware, but apks exist if needed.

>N64
-windows
project64. watch out for the adware installers.

-linux
project64 via WINE. Mupen is touted as being good, but configuring it and using it is annoying and gayer than something that's really gay.
PJ64 works, and it works in WINE, so fuck anything else.

-android
Mupen64+. It's the only one for android that's worth a shit, and the app devs have made it workable with a good UI, and preconfiguration.

>SNES
-linux
snes9x.

-windows
snes9x

-android
snes9x

snes9x is the best for what it is. Higan is super-duper accurate, but requires a cray super computer to run, and ZSNES is gay shit that uses hacks and looks like some gay DOS app that belongs in the bin with fucking nesticle.

>2600

I've only ever emulated the 2600 on windows, and it was with stella.

>Dreamcast

-windows
nullDC.

-android
reicast

>NES

-linux
FCEUX

-windows
NEStopia

no real preference. NES emu is pretty solid regardless of what faggot wrote the program.

>gameboy

depends on what exactly that I'm trying to emulate. Often, I play with VBA or Gambatte.

Not exactly related to OP, but it's a question about emulation that doesn't deserve it's own thread.

So I bought the Gamecube controller adapter for the Wii U, and it works great for use with Dolphin, but I want to use it for retro emulation. Has anybody had any luck with this? For some reason none of my emulation programs identify it as a controller.
