I've been hounding for some Genesis/Mega Drive games but I don't know which emu to get. What would y'all recommend?

You really don't even need to. Genesis emulation has been solid for more than a decade. I use Fusion on Windows. Mednafen works too.

I'm aware that the answer to OPs question is "it doesn't matter" since all emulators are accurate. You should WANT to use original hardware, especially since it's so cheap. It won't be forever.

Any of the modern Genesis emulators are fine. It seems like most people use Kega Fusion these days.

Given there are so many Genesis compilations for PS2 onward, I don't really bother with Genesis emulation on my desktop. Most of those collections have every first-party title anyone would want to play.

Or use the Wii version without RetroArch. Either way Genesis Plus GX is the most accurate Genesis emulator but RetroArch is your only choice to use it on anything but Wii.

Not that guy but, why not? It's cheap, it works well. Road rash uses a hardware trick to get smoother play on the genesis, on emulators it feels laggy

Most people I know use Kega Fusion, it's a little old at this point but runs everything fine as far as Im aware, and it also does Master System, Game Gear and Sega CD, as well as the only Genesis/Mega Drive Emulator that does 32X so keep that in mind.

I hear GENs is decent as well but Ive never used it, but I hear it's a solid alternative to Kega if yu want to try both.

Exodus is an attempt at a cycle accurate Emulator for the Genesis/Mega Drive, in the vein of BSNES/Higan, for SNES. It's made some good progress in recent years but isn't near close to useable at this point for actual game play, nor does it support any add ons.

For portable PicoDrive is excellent, I use it on my PSP, it does Gen/MD and Sega CD and works well for those, though it does not do SMS or GG do you'll need Masterboy for that.

Just don't use Genecyst, its DOS based so that should give you the age you're looking at, it was fine for the time but it's massively depreciated and hasn't been updated in over a decade.

I use this on my Pi Arcade machine. use Floob's filter program to add the TV scanline overlay and right scaling and it looks absolutely wonderful and plays smooth.

No. Picodrive does 32X too.

Lurk moar, newfag. /vr/ used to get spammed with Retron and RetroArch threads all the time. They would even copy and paste the same threads verbatim and repost them a few days later, both on /vr/ and /v/.

Either the mods finally started cracking down on it, or the spammers gave up and moved on. Now when someone mentions RA or especially Retron, it's usually meme posting. "Retron saved my marriage!" was just hilariously bad PR on their part.

Why not it's my favorite emulator and I use it daily.

Retron was spammed by memefaggots and trolls because /vr/ got all pissed off about it. No one has spammed RetroArch like that, I can tell you that much.

RetoArch has nothing to do with Retron anyway besides the fact Hyperkin is using stolen code from libretro cores inside the Retron. Stop associating RetroArch with Retron because RAdev hates Hyperkin as much as you do.

wut? No one said RetroArch had anything to do with Retron. They're two separate things that get spammed here. Whoever kept spamming RA was likely one of its developers. It doesn't matter that it's not a commercial project. People still want to shill their works on 4chan for reputation or some shit.

It's even worse with drawfags who try to force their shitty artwork to become memes.

Proof of what? I can't pull up anyone's IP and cross-reference all their posts for you. But when someone repeatedly spams thread after thread with literally the same copy-and-paste posts verbatim praising any one particular product / software / whatever, it's a pretty good bet it's spam. It was the same ordeal between Retron and RA posts. We couldn't have a single thread about emulation without it quickly being overrun by the same copy / paste PR text as the last thread.

>Otherwise, stop talking bullshit

If you just came here to be a hard-ass for completely inexplicable reasons, then fuck your stupid ass too. You can complain about the anti-RA posters all you want, but /vr/ has enough post-traumatic stress over it that they're going to keep whining regardless of how much it triggers your autism.

That's the last I'm going to say on that subject because I don't want to derail OP's thread any further.

Except that never happened with RA. You can even go look at the damn archive, RA threads were extremely sparse and mostly limited to retards asking questions about it answered by the wiki or just some /emugen/ user crossposting.

I have no idea where in the world you got this idea that this actually happened, but you keep bringing it up as on /vr/ repeatedly.

AFAIK it only does 32x on ARM devices and x86. It has a SH-2 dynarec for ARM, and uses a SH-2 interpreter on x86 (it's fairly slow). It can be used on Windows, OSX, and Linux through libretro.

PSP version is quite old and does not have 32x emulation and it's too slow for that anyway.
