What are some of those crazy add ons or retro tech ideas that faded away. Saw this sufami turbo today, never knew about it before. General retro failed tech thread.

Casio Loopy usually gets a lot of love. It's a video game console that could print stickers. It was mainly aimed at the photo booth market, that was already drying up and it missed the collectible card game market.

I never knew about this until now.

Pretty much everything Sega made for the Genesis.

there is the u-force for the NES, intended to convert hand movements to controller buttons, it was conviluted and cumbersome and didn't always register correctly though.

I raise you with the Activator.

So complex(?) that it required its own training video.

MK2's Genesis port defaulted to 'ACTIVATOR' controls so you were essentially fucked if you didn't have a 6-button pad.

my cousin had one of those, I completely forgot about it until now, unsurprisingly it never fucking worked correctly. Otherwise though, why are you trying to "up me", I wasn't aware this was some sort of competition...

I have one of these in my attic right now. My roommate brought it home from his mom's place a few weeks ago, but I haven't tried setting it up due to how much floorspace it takes up.

I've seen this mentioned before- I think the idea of a young diabetic kid swapping out his Golden Sun cart with this add-on to check his sugar level depresses me

And these kids thought wii boxing was a workout.

There's a ton for the Game Boy in japan. Zok Zok Heroes had one of those shaking electric charge things, like those shitty flashlights, bardigun had a barcode scanner, Grander Musashi RV REvolution has a fucking fishing reel you attach to the game boy (all it does is mash A).

And of course, the Game Boy DDR games.

>> No.2586165

I know the PS1 had an adapter that would allow you to play original Game Boy games.

In Japan the Mega Drive had a modem that would allow you to make phone calls and had some sort of banking feature.

I've always wanted to get the barcode boy, but the games for it are so moonspeak, you could never get through them.

it's kind of a shame that those things were never released in the US, I don't quite get why they thought it wasn't worth importing. What kid wouldn't love scanning random barcodes to see what monsters it makes.

Also this thing. Though the display just being a bunch of numbers, I suppose I can see why this one didn't really take off.
