new to /vr/ here so pardon me ahead of time if this is a stupid question/not possible
Just put togeather a sweet Windows 98 (second edition) computer to play some good old DOS games. Only problem is I like to use a controller over a keyboard. I'd use Xpadder but that doesn't work on 98. Same with Joy2key. Are there any programs for windows 98 that work like them?

Don't dos games have joystick support?

Why not just emulate the games you want to play?

What game are you playing without controller support?

cant you just call it a joystick in the options? it should detect it the same. also, why the fuck did you build a windows 98 machine? 8 and probably 10 can play dos games through an emulator with literally no downsides.

I was trying to play the mega man dos games and Sonic R.

I built a 98 machine cause I'm a poor fag who got board. Got all the parts for free from a computer repair store that was closing down.

According to Google Xpadder works with Windows 98.

What's wrong with the first one?

I have a generic PS2 controller to USB adapter, and it worked out of the box without any special software on my DOS games, so long as I ran them within Windows 98. In real DOS, it gets much more complicated.

Does that computer have a gameport?

oh, I got so caught up in not understanding why anyone would want to play those that I forget to say that they DO support game pads.

Which version though? Oldest version I could find was 5.3 and that tells me to upgrade windows when I run it.

Is everyone here a potato or something? OP quit being a fag and just install KernelEx.

>> No.2575106

Just use DOSBox on a modern PC. The experience will be a million times better.

>> No.2575117

Just run straight DOS. Pretty sure freedos comes with a working joy2key program. Most decent games will support joystick anyway.
