I've moved the /v/rct Helpsite from Tumblr to my own server, so it should be updated a bit more regularly now:

http://galax.moe/rct

I also put the download link for RCT2 right on the welcome screen since that's what people are going to want most.

Next plan is to separate the guide/download screens into tabs for RCT1 and RCT2, and maybe change the navigation menu on the left to be like the bar on the top.

What are your guys' favorite Scenerios? I'm playing this for the first time since I was 1st grade. Had the old Triple Thrill Pack Disc (Couldn't find my RCT+CF+LL Disc) and downloaded all the official conversions of RCT1 scenerios + Panda World. I started with Forest Frontiers and Electric Fields, then moved on to Bumbly Beach. Beat them easily but didn't really go above and beyond. Dynamite Dunes and Leafy Lake is where I think I did really good and maintained a 999 park rating while expanding. Don't really know where to go to next, was thinking Evergreen Gardens but, it's massive, has a confusing path structure, and has an Entrance Fee instead of Park fees.

>lower intensity is good because... people are pussies?
basically

If your intensity rating is too high, people won't ride it.
You generally want Excitement>Intensity>Nausea, but that isn't always possible. Just aim to get excitement as high as you can and intensity and nausea as low as you can.

>> No.2573615

>>2573594
You have to keep in mind all three ratings. Excitement draws guests to your ride but intensity and nausea will actively repel some of them. Excitement and intensity work hand in hand, to a point. Intense rides create a more exciting experience but eventually there's a point where the intensity becomes too high and your excitement rating tanks.

>>2573596
Banking your turns keeps the intensity under control. Your guests do not like getting whiplash or broken necks.

Also, how's my woodie? Its the first Coaster I've made, so I banked my turns and tried not to do things like curve on the first drop and other things I heard.

Too be honest, I was just testing the water drop part of wooden coasters since I've seen 0 that use it.

Not a huge fan of secondary lift hills but on woodies they are kinda fine. Also looks like you still have velocity to work with, don't end a coaster with to strong of a break.

It's alright, but you could add some more dips, use a steeper slope after the first hill lift... maybe make the lift higher and remove the second one?

You ideally want Excitement higher than Intensity.

Don't do this. Only make another lift hill once the train has lost all of its speed. That said, for your first coaster it really isn't bad. Turns are banked, you've got some cool twisties, and you don't have the train going through your turns at 100mph.

I'm trying to beat all of the Wacky Worlds/Time Twister scenarios I never completed as a kid and I recently finished Fun at the Beach (Australasia) and absolutely loved it because it's got a pretty unique progression unlike other scenarios in the game.

The premise is that you already run a small park on one side of a channel and you just bought an ocean themed park with a handful of pretty great coasters and rides on the other side of the map. The issue is that you don't own any of the land in between the two parks and it's priced at a ridiculous (by RCT standards) $150 a square. So eventually you are faced with a strategic choice to make in terms of creating a means to access the ocean park (I researched a chairlift and constructed an underground tunnel) or you can scrap the entire park and its scenery to make a shitload of money, which isn't tremendously easy to come by because funds are generated off of park entrance fees. 2200 guests/600 rating in five years so you also have a little time to mess around a bit i.e. build custom coasters and there's a massive flat beachfront you already own with which to do so. Also all of the land on the map is available for purchase so you can keep playing for a very long time even after you complete the scenario.

It's a challenge but a fun one with more strategy involved than you'd expect. I highly recommend it.

Not really a fair test, there's a certain length that I forget which wodden / mine train coasters have to be longer than or they get really low stats.

It's kinda funny to see, at X length they have 3 stats, but at X+3 feet length it suddenly jumps to 7.

>> No.2575992

Wild Mouse coasters have a similar jump in stats, as well. A single turn can turn a 3/3/2 ride into 5/7/4.

I figured they all scaled differently, but I was bored as I don't really feel like playing any scenarios until the guest ai gets fixed. Does make sense that some of my favorite to build coasters have better excitement/intensity ratings as far as that test goes. I did want to see the differences in stats between train types with the twisters.

No, water coaster is comparable to the TOGO in how much the stats suck. There's a player made scenario where you have to get one of both of those + 3 other coaster types up to 7.20 excitement rating and it's a real difficult challenge.

Coasters can only enter the ground by going into a vertical wall. These walls can be created easily with the ground level tool.

I'm confused, why is the Twister coaster so much worse than the Looping coaster? Is it because the Looping one goes through another rides loop and has two loops that go through each other? Or is it because it goes near a bunch of rides?

>> No.2583667

>>2583629
Certain coasters have hidden excitement boosts (eg. Gigas have the most), but yeah, being placed nearer to other rides, interlocking pieces, and scenery can all affect the excitement/intensity ratings.

After placing some more stuff the Looping coaster broke 9 excitement. And here I thought it hit the scenery cap already.

I needed a way to go down a level while also turn around 180 degrees left in order to go for the drop. The only thing allowing me to do so was the helix.
