Went to the new Round 1 in Seattle. They didn't have old games but did have Street Fighter 4. Played with some random dudes and we had a blast just like in the old days.

It seemed most of the games were driving, gun, or carnival style ticket games. Most games were $1 and ticket games were between $1 and $2.

Tons of if ufo catchers and the ticket prize redemption room had some cool stuff.

Yeah it's really fucking shitty. The theater I used to go to when I lived in Florida had stuff like fucking Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 and Time Crisis when I was a kid. The older I got they started to tear out the fun stuff and replace it with those fucking prize games like the string cutting thing or the one where you try to get the key through the slot. The ultimate insult to injury was when they pulled out the dinosaur hunting light gun game which was pretty much the last fun one they had and replaced it with a Cabella's cabinet.

Nowadays I live in South Carolina, and the local theater is pretty much just as disappointing. They've got a Terminator game that's not very fun, a few no-name racing games that don't work half the time, and everything else is just prize stuff.

There's a dollar theater here too, but they're incredibly small and only have one game: Motherfucking Crazy Taxi 3. If I hadn't already seen half the movies they tend to show there I'd honestly start going more often.

Technically it was Milpitas--Golfland. Golfland used to be the only thing resembling a real arcade in the area but the damn dirty apes blew it up and now it's just laser tag, shitty ticket games, and a handful of broken old, or overpriced new arcade games. They actually have a pile of nice games worth playing just hanging out and disconnected in the space between where the laser tag is now that used to be a second building full of arcade games and the building that is now just a shit arcade. Wonder if I could make on offer on one of the disconnected games. Anyway, Ms. Pac-Man is about the only thing not broken and affordable, although it has an 8-way stick, not a 4-way . I'm stuck out in the suburbs between Sacramento and San Francisco so I basically just have a shitty bowling alley arcade with enough ticket games to look like a mini Vegas for anklebiters, a run-down family fun center , and a mall arcade I forgot about in close proximity. I'm headed to the one in Sacramento, but there's one in San Diego, and there may be another one, but I'm not sure. Haven't checked out the Roseville Golfland in ages but it used to be decent too.

>>2565843
Yeah I haven't been to the one in San Diego but they recently opened one up in Sacramento. Nachos are always a plus. Trying not to get my hopes up but I hope it doesn't disappoint. Apparently they have the games on freeplay the last Sunday of every month so I hope it isn't too crowded. Going to be eating beforehand at an All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ joint but I'll check out the food and drink a bit there too if I can.

>>2565792

So, Coin-Op was pretty good. The game selection is decent and the games are mostly well-maintained. I wouldn't recommend going on the free-play night unless you're into navigating around large crowds and don't mind sticking to the more difficult games you can't just quarter-pump through. The seedy dive-bar atmosphere just needed a touch more neon and a fog machine to make me think there's a Johnson hiding in the corner looking to hire me to cull the local ghoul herd. Didn't end up trying any of the food or drink so I can't comment on that. One dude with a backpack was jamming on the 100-in-1 MVS all night and that was a little depressing.

Their parts are the same as the Happ parts you remember finding throughout Western arcades in the 80s and 90s.

Happ was bought out around the mid 2000s and switched to cheaper Chinese factories so their old Euro suppliers at IL said fuggit and decided to just keep making the old Happ-style parts under the iL name.

If you're thinking about putting iL parts in a personal arcade stick, be aware that, just like Happ, their components are huge and don't fit in most stick cases. Their long-stemmed buttons will fit in most larger cases, but their levers are massive, so you might want to check around first.
