Does /vr/ play Worms? It still holds up today.

I rented the game so many times I asked if I could just buy it from them. I was like 9 or 10. They said no obviously.

>> No.2539920

/vr/ Worms are the only worthwhile worms, there's still nothing that comes close to the Armageddon/World Party engine.

id say so, I havent played in a while. Played a console version of Armageddon or WP and the controls made me feel weird.

Along with Carmageddon and Doom, Worms was the other game that ate up a majority of my childhood. Ill never forget this Aung Thar that showed me Worms 2 at his house, was hooked ever since.

I still play Scorched Earth, which is the original Worms. Some kind Anon pointed this link out to me last time:

Has regular players online, check it out.

You would have better luck playing Worms Armageddon. Armageddon has tons of updates that gives you nice resolution and easy access to netplay.

Finnish voice is great. It's funny, and it just such an anomaly that any game has Finnish voice acting.

you don't need a legit copy to play online the wormnet multiplayer lobby works fine anyway as long as youre on a somewhat recent patch

I have been playing Armageddon fairly regularly over the past 10 years. Nothing after it compares, although Reloaded is alright.

Download this client to access wormnet without launching the game (Wheat or Pro) http://lookias.worms2d.info/download.php

Download this to be able to host without port forwarding http://lookias.worms2d.info/download.php (just drag and drop into install folder) Then go to options > advanced > load up wormkit modules, restart.

To avoid errors, host with the game, not the client.

There you go, you don't need a legit copy to play online. Just make sure to update http://worms2d.info/Update

Played World Party on a friend's house many years ago, loved the game. Fast forward a few years i bought the ps2 3d version, it was somewhat fun but still sucked compared to World Party.

I wish i could play World Party or Armageddon online, if somebody knows how, let me know.

Oh, didn't see this, thanks.

>> No.2541476

So how does /vr/ feel about that new World Party re-release?

I'm cautious, because Worms Reloaded was apparently supposed to be Armageddon. It does however, feel more like a straight HD version.

>> No.2541481

you gave the same link twice, which link for playig without port forwarding

>>2541453
idk but words being turn based, with good enough upload and latency you could play a netplayless worms wiith VNC (remote screen view)

>> No.2541490

Worms world party was pretty damn fun.

Also, not exactly /vr/ related, but i don't really get all the hate the full-3d worms games get. Worms 4: mayhem was great.

Sorry about that http://worms2d.info/WormNAT2

Drag that into your main WA folder then activated WK modules on options, you'll be notified the next time you start the game if it works.

I understand that Armageddon in mobile is a Reloaded port and that Reloaded was supposed to be a remake, but seriously why not just release an improvement on Armageddon?

It would probably last longer anyway.

For what purpose?

>>2543340
You just said it. They used the name already and they can't return to it for a long time at least. It would be nice if they fixed compatibility issues though.

>> No.2543364

why do people seem to like armageddon over world party?

>> No.2543374

>>2543364
Because it's actively supported with patches etc. whereas WP is kind of stuck where it always was.

>> No.2543379

>>2543364
WP had some good ideas, but it nixed some things that were near essential to players. It's also still actively supported by the fanbase, making it rather timeless.

I'll buy if they listened to what people have been saying and improved it. That would just make it better than Armageddon.

>> No.2543380

>>2543364
At release, some people saw WP as a cash-in that existed to showcase the Dreamcast's netplay features

Today, it has more to do with the fact that Armageddon is still>>2543364
actively patched and maintained with new features in 2015 while WP is not

Apparently this is a flop, where should I get the best Worms game? Armageddon, as it seems.
Also, was I the only one who liked the 3D worms games? If they WERE bad, how so?

>> No.2545508

>>2545480
Either grab Armageddon in Steam (I don't recall whether it's on GoG) or get an ISO from TPB and the latest updates from wa.team17.com

I'd advise running the game in a VM for convenience because it still forces fullscreen; with new patches it can use any resolution up to 1080p while ingame, but the menu screens are still locked at 640x480 and it can be jarring to see as it keeps switching after every match

>> No.2545525

I like the 3D Worms games. It's different but I think it's just as fun. Mayhem is hilarious with a few people. Forts was also really interesting.

>> No.2545604

>>2545480
This is a point where "just pirate it" is a viable option. You can download the game, get the latest patch and it's no-CD hack, and it's exactly the same as Steam.

The PS1 ports were great, but are considered not as good because the online play is just that much fun on Worms.

That's why Armageddon is held so high, it has the biggest online group.

Well first of all they were confusing as fuck, second is, it didn't feel like a worms game so that's why people don't like them.

I never actually tried this game, even though I had an Amiga back in the day (played lots of other games intead). I have no interest whatsoever in online play, so I'm probably just going to go with the original game, and if that's fun, Worms: The Director's Cut.
