I would love to make myself some good fake Sega CD, Jaguar CD, 3DO, CDi, TG/PCE fakes for my own collection or I would probably pay $100+ for giant sets of them, even if I had to source my own cases. Chinese pirates take note.

On topic, Snatcher is awesome and it makes me sad when I think about the turn modern VNs have taken, possibly in part due to the lackluster reception of these 90s mystery style graphic adventure games while the erotic ones continued to be popular.

Maybe the insane inflation they're seeing will signal that the West DOES still want games like this.Bernie Stolar does NOT retresent us!

It's less supply and more so demand. We don't know how much there truly is out there except that it's finite. It's a free market so people can do whatever they want. People can ask for 500 for a game, and people are willing to pay it, so that's the norm. If people stop paying for that price, you lower it and see what catches.

Snatcher did sell like shit though so it deserves the price since it's actually rare

Suburbs and sub-suburbs are literally the worst places for collectible prices. Inside the big cities there's so much turnover that it's not hard to find stuff at good prices and in smallish cities, shit might sit on the shelf for months at ebay high prices but in areas like yours, there's no shortage of serious collectors from the city with money to spare making the short drive to find particular titles that are likely to be sold out at their neighborhood vidya store.

If you want shit cheap, head into the city and shop the smaller stores and thrift stores regularly

PCs in general. Literally only expensive on ebay because of scamming reseller shits. They're fucking worthless in the real world and literally everywhere, specially factories and schools, even PC/XT stuff. I got a pallette of P100 boxes for free because a school was throwing them away. They probably would've paid me to take them if I pushed, still wouldve been cheaper for them than sending them to recycling.

This fucking game right here

15 years after its release, sellers all over the internet had sealed copies by the truckloads. A worthless game no one wanted that was never priced higher than a Subway. Today, nearly all copies have suddenly disappeared and it is one of the pricier PSX titles. This is where I started believing in shenanigans.

Yeah, but there's a reason for that. Before Demon's Souls nobody really gave a shit about From's dungeon crawlers. Unless it was Armored Core nobody cared... hell, they were pretty castigated from what I remember. Now that From's dungeon crawlers are really popular, the new fans want to try out the old ones, and even though it had been dirt cheap before, supply wasn't exactly huge, but now that so many people are aware of Shadow Tower, King's Field, etc., they go up in price because more and more people are looking for them.

Tail Concerto's the same way. Didn't exactly sell well when it was new, so even though supply wasn't in a large amount, the game was dirt cheap for over a decade until the spiritual successor, Solatorobo, came out on the DS. As soon as that came out the price slowly started rising and now it's one of the most expensive games on the PlayStation. Funnily enough so is Solatorobo on the DS.

I was completely unaware of this. I bought this brand new and sealed about two years ago for dirt cheap. Glad I did it then if this is the case. How long has this been going on?

>> No.2530453

>>2530434
Hm, I guess you're right. A bit more than the $5-ish I always used to see them go for about a decade ago but still pretty negotiable.

I dunno how to justify game prices sometimes. Mega Man's another one that doesn't make any sense. For ages the SNES games always fell into X1: $10-20, X2: $30-40, X3: $100+, and MM7 at $20-30. X1's gone up quite a bit but popular games like those going up in price is understandable, and X3's always been one of the more expensive SNES games so it's expected to inflate alongside everything else. What doesn't make sense is how MM7 suddenly became, like, a $200 game when that was a more common game than X2, which barely creeps into the $90 range these days, which is still too expensive, but still.

Glad I got X2 when I did, but I'm kicking myself for not picking up 7 around the same time. It was always an "I'll get it later" thing, and now later's never coming.

I think it's one of the best games of that console generation personally. If it wasn't for the bits of slowdown it would probably be my favorite platformer/action game.

It's not perfect. The slowdown does get overblown a lot. There's only certain spots where it happens but it is annoying. The length is short also.

No, no, I learned that when I had the "privilege" of getting close to reseller scum - those allotted supervisor style positions get to make endless demands of everyone and anyone and non-business-program plebs are a supply to milk any way imaginable, and if said plebs are less than enthusiastic about it, their degenerate attitude must be crusaded against.

>> No.2534194

>>2530546
I wouldn't call myself a reseller since I've never really sold any of my games or consoles. I have traded some crappy NES titles for better ones but that's it.

Recently though I've been selling crap at the flea market (non video game) and cfind deals I just can't say no to. Like kingdom hearts 2 for 25cents and pikmin 2 for 50cents. I'll probably keep those but it was just an example. So I don't feel bad about reselling stuff I'm not gonna play. I don't really want stuff just to look at it, if I'm not gonna play it I might as well make alittle money off them. But I will pass the savings along because I wanna price them to move.

Maybe I'm a scumbag, wouldn't be the first time I was one.

True it's kinda a dick move but there are a bunch of ahole resellers at my flea market so if I didn't buy them they would. They jack up the prices on everything so somebody is gonna get it cheaper from me. Also I'm willing to make a deal since I got them for basically nothing. Just don't wanna be one of those douchebag resellers you run into and don't really give a fuck about games.
